Back Home?-No Event-BYOA
After a quiet night in his room, Balthazar wakes in a labyrinth of clutter and dust, sprawled across a threadbare red velvet divan. The smell of the place, and the feel, is so utterly familiar he sits bolt upright. Home? Home! Delight and relief are immediately replaced by a vague sense of regret. He can't quite remember where he thought he was before, or what he thinks he'll miss that he found there, but somehow being dumped back in the middle of the Arcana Cabana is disappointing.
He gets up and dusts off the divan he was dozing on. It was once owned by an extreme proponent of ritual sex; normally he tries to avoid spending much time on it. Maybe that influenced the dreams he had. Looking back at the ratty velvet cushions seems to trigger memories of red walls and gold brocade.
...hells, what time is it? He'd better get cleaned up in case he's got a client coming. He doesn't keep track of his appointments well these days. He turns and heads for the upper floors where his apartment lies, but pauses as he passes the front door. His reflection is vivid on the glass, because outside it's dark. Not dark like nighttime in Manhattan, but pitch-fucking-black, like someone's painted over the door with india ink. He approaches with caution, stares into the abyss, tries the handle. It doesn't budge.
A chill runs down his spine as he backs cautiously away. This...is not right. Something is very wrong here.
((The basics: The setting is Arcana Cabana-accurate down to the details of the artifacts there, but there may be extra things lurking about, either in the way of fun toys or dangerous semi-sentient artifacts. Balthazar thinks he's at home, but if someone references the hotel or if he runs into someone he has prior CR with, it'll come flooding back. Any kind of media is welcome, canons, castmates, and OCs alike. He's open to m/f or m/m, but smut will be easier to build to with prior CR or if the other character instigates it. Prefs can be found here (scroll until you find his name).
This could go a number of ways. If you'd like something with an emphasis on creepy or adventure, there can be monsters or dark sorcerers stalking around, with the potential for getting lost in the twists and turns of the shelves or things increasing or decreasing in size according to the rules of dream logic. It can also be a relatively straightforward trapped scenario, with the door refusing to open until some kind of climax is reached. Your character can wake inside the shop with no idea how s/he got there, or perhaps they believe they're a client, colleague, or student. PM with questions, or ask OOC here, and feel free to indicate preference as to scenario, or ideas of your own. :) ))
