She was lying near the altar inside the Temple of Time. Her body prone and unmoving as short breaths, barely noticeabl, escaped her lips. Her skin was pale and lost its lustrous light. Tears streamed down her cheeks, running over dried stains of dirt and what looked like blood. Her clothes were torn and soiled, ripped at the seams, exposing her bruised legs and arms.
Princess Zelda had no memory of what happened before, only that a searing pain was coursing through her, wreaking havoc on her body. Any recollection of what happened prior to being slewn against the cold, tiled floor of the temple was a blur, and if she tried to remember, a sharp pain would shoot up from her spinal cord to her head, making her cry out softly.
There did not seem to be anyone in the temple with her, which was both a good and bad thing; Zelda did not know whether or not whatever did this to her was still nearby, but she wished she could have aid, especially since she was in so much pain. She could not find the strength to call upon the Goddesses for guidance, or to ask for help and protection against whatever was causing her such distress.
When it seemed that the pain was ebbing away, the Princess convulsed and groaned as an intense wave of pain washed over her, making her cry out sharply. "P-please... stop.. Nayru.. protect me.. guide me through this..."
Her cries echoed throughout the temple, reverbrating off the stone walls and pillars. Her voice that fell upon her ears was so distant, so cold, that she believed the pain was actually going to kill her.
