Hurt / Comfort / Intro - Mainly for CR

Akihiko had been here for a couple days. He had not really slept much while he had been there if only because he was too confused, and in a morbid way, fascinated by the resemblence the Hotel had with Tartarus. He had quickly found his evoker once he had decided on a room to make his central base and landmark, and kept the device with him at all ( Read more... )

Would a Minako do? infinite_arcana October 7 2011, 04:43:08 UTC
Minako had taken to roaming the halls at night, and while she was a young woman, she was hardly defenseless. It was something she'd become accustomed to thanks to many nights spent climbing Tartarus, but that... that had had a point, but this place had anything but.

At first, it was the noise that drew her attention. Noisy rooms weren't really that abnormal in the hotel, but hearing sounds of violence instead of pleasure? Quietly, she stepped into the doorway and found herself staring down at the mess littering the room, as well as the person that had created it.

No matter what, the sight of him pulled a small smile to her lips, even if it was a bit sad.

"You do protect people with it."

Akihiko couldn't even bring himself to make eye contact with Minako. It was far too fresh in his mind and the wounds were too painful to let even her past his stoic facade, despite the quiet weeping he was doing in the corner.

"Then why is Shinji dead? ...It's my fault... if only I had realized what day it was sooner..."

Sighing, softly, she stepped closer, quietly closing the door behind her, but taking care to keep it from truly shutting. If that happened, then certain things would have to happen in order to free the two of them, she while she wouldn't mind it, she wasn't sure he'd be in the mood for something like that.

Not tonight.

She moved across the room in just a few steps, dropping to her knees before him as she reached for one of his hands. It wouldn't do for him to find out how she'd ended up after everything was over, so for now, she'd see what she could do to help him through.

"It's not your fault. It never was."

Akihiko didn't stop her. At the moment, he was just grateful for the company. When he spoke, his voice shook - something that was virtually unheard of for him - and he sounded hoarse even. "You weren't there as soon as I was... I saw that bastard shoot him... if I had just remembered the date... you and the others handled the shadows easily enough... but... if I had only been able to warn Shinji... we could have taken down that bastard Takaya..."

"There was a lot going on and Shinji did what he thought was right. He wouldn't have done it if he hadn't wanted to. You know that."

Her fingers turned his hand over as she let her gaze drop to survey the damage. She could heal him, even if it was something minor. All it would take would be a touch of the power she held, but she hesitated. It might not be something he wanted from her. Maybe, just maybe, he was seeking another comfort.

"Maybe he saw it as his penance for what happened in the past."

A vague memory tugged at the back of her mind; her mother tending to some childhood injury. Without thinking, she pulled his injured hand up to brush a careful kiss across his bloody knuckles.

Akihiko sighed. He knew she was right. It was what Shinji wanted. Ever since it happened, Shinji hadn't been the same person. Honestly, Akihiko hadn't been able to fathom the kind of guilt Shinji felt. He'd injured people by accident in the ring, but nothing worse than a broken nose. To be responsible for the death of an innocent bystander, and making a small child an orphan? That was something Akihiko couldn't comprehend.

"...I know... Shinji wanted--" He cut his sentence short when she kissed his knuckles. His face turned bright red and he just blinked for a good minute solid.

"...Minako...?"

Blinking, she glanced up at him, not really realizing that she still had her slim fingers curled around his. It hit quickly enough, though, leaving her blushing a bit herself. Still, she managed a small smile for him even as she dropped his hand and glanced to a much safer spot somewhere on his chest.

"Sorry."

Akihiko grinned softly, moving his non-bloodied hand to brush some hair out of her face. "Don't be... it was a beautiful gesture, thank you."
