His love leaving him was the last thing he saw before everything went dark. The lustful Duke falling into what he thought was the abyssmal sleep of death. In reality the hotel snatched him right before his death, it saw fit to heal his wounds but not remove the blood stains from where he was stabbed. So anyone who entered the room with the wide-open door would see a man laid out on the bed with quite a bit of blood on his shirt and unconcious. His sleep looked anything but peaceful which would add to any worries someone may have.
