After The Party + Keeping It Sneaky | Medium-High Aphro

Fatima couldn't explain why she agreed to go to the party. Sure, there was plenty to celebrate, what with Elicia and her Beast Fiends defeated and peace restored to humans and Witches, but she couldn't really stand parties. There were always too many people, and the Shadow Frost Witch wasn't really one for crowded places. So many people . . . she ( Read more... )

Attending formal parties such as this wasn't an uncommon thing for Leon Magnus to have to endure. Being the son and only heir to the head of a wealthy corporation like Oberon, it was only natural that he would be invited to such events. To refuse such invitations would only leave a bad impression on the guests and host, and bad business with potential allies was never worthwhile. So, much to his chagrin, Leon had dressed in his finest clothes and had mingled with the crowds, taking place in idle conversation he cared nothing about while eating food and drink that he didn't particularly enjoy.

It would have been fine had Chaltier been with him, but the Swordian was unfortunately back home. Without his companion, Leon's patience for the festivities he cared so little for drew thin. Excusing himself from one of the guests who had trapped him in some sort of political discussion, Leon managed to slip out and disappear out into a side room. Immediately, he let out a sigh, relieved to be free from all that noise.

That is, of course, until he heard another voice.

Frowning, Leon looked up at the girl in the room. Great... someone else he was forced to deal with.

"I was looking for a place to avoid the noise of this party." he scoffed.

The Shadow Frost Witch had been prepared to send him packing with a few choice words, but upon hearing his reasoning for disturbing her, she decided against it. He escaped the party for similar reasons she did, so how could she damn him for that? If there was one thing she was not, it was a hypocrite. Fatima moved to sit down on one of the couches in the room, tired of standing.

"So I'm not the only one then." she said with a little sigh. "That's a relief."

So she had come to escape from the party as well? Well, at least she seemed to feel the same as he did about the event. He chose not to sit, but rather leaned up against a nearby wall, arms crossed over his chest.

"I don't enjoy being forced to attend these sorts of things." he said. "Personally, I would prefer it if I could avoid it altogether."

It was rather funny, she thought, that they shared sentiments about the party. Rather refreshing too, since all of the others she knew kept insisting she try to be more social. It just didn't work that way for her.

"It's the same for me, I assure you. Being crammed into a crowded place and watching...that...no thank you." she said with a little sigh in her voice.

"Hmm. It seems I'm not the only one who despises such events." Leon said, though his voice held a hint of amusement in it. "I doubt anyone would notice if we left, given the size of this gathering."

Though, given Leon's luck, odds are someone would notice him leaving the party. Then he wouldn't hear the end of it.

She was quiet a moment more to let him talk. Really, the thought of meeting someone else like herself, in attitude anyway, was enough to make her smile even just a little. Hopefully both of them could stand talking to one another without saying something wrong, as she noticed was apt to happen at times.

"I'm Fatima, the Shadow Frost Witch. It's nice to meet you, given the circumstances."

Unbeknownst to her, Leon shared similar feelings of relief in being able to talk to someone about something they actually agreed on; right now, their discussing on how much they don't like attending these parties was the most intriguing discussion he's had all night, much more than any discussion of politics or business proposals or how elegantly the guest of honour danced.

While her name held some authority, it wasn't familiar with him. Still, he responded with respect. "I'm Leon Magnus, Knight Captain of Seinegald. Likewise to you."

"Ah, another knight hm? They're all over the place, it seems." she said, laughing a little. It was her best attempt at humor, but she didn't know if it would get a chuckle out of him or just anger him. Knights were an unpredictable sort when it came to humor.

A small chuckle escaped Leon at that comment. "Anyone can be a knight; simply give them a weapon and a scrap of iron for defense." he said. "It takes skill to actually make something out of yourself."
