(in the library)

Edward Elric was quite possibly the world's most focused reader. When he was engrossed in something, it was hard to pull him out of it - no amount of conversation, screaming or noise would be enough to do so until he'd gleaned all he could from the documents. The Hotel didn't have a great selection of books, but it did have a few choice alchemy and scientific texts that he was interested in.

Physics was something he was taking a specific interest in: especially documents that supported this theory of alternate universes and of nexuses. It seemed pointless and part of him knew that; the hotel wouldn't keep its secrets and give them willingly, but Ed could always extrapolate. Either way, it was interesting, and he was a scientist at heart - knowledge for knowledge's sake, even if most of his research had been done for very tangible gains: to bring his mother back, at first, and then to get his brother's body back. It seemed the hotel had already done the second for him, and the first was impossible, so there was a sort of tenuous peace in Ed's mind that couldn't last. Not when things back home were in the state he'd left them in.

It seems this place is hell-bent on disrupting his thoughts and his studies, though, because Ed feels his cheeks flush after a moment and shifts - no, squirms uncomfortably in his seat. After a moment, he brings his automail fist down on the table in sheer frustration.

"WILL YOU CUT THAT CRAP OUT? I'M TRYING TO READ."

[As a warning: Ed has a stubborn will that is prodigious in its own right. Unless he's very comfortable with your character, or they're very persuasive, most threads will probably be CR because he's sure that if he just concentrates he can bypass the effects. It's shounen hero fridge logic at its best. But all that aside: have at!]
