One of the town's better qualities was the fact that it was located so close to the shoreline. Aside from that, though, a lot of the area was much the same as every other place he had been in. Small, bustling, crowded at times, -- and while he didn't really mind the crowds, it did get to be a pain to jostle his way through them -- the town was very much familiar and yet completely different to him. The people had become a backdrop of society and for the most part he kept to himself, content to live out the rest of his days in solitude until he was needed. A few odd jobs here and there ensured he stayed rich enough to get by in life, and he was happy with that.

The air is somewhat chilly, a cool breeze permeating the warmth of the morning sun every once in a while. He is outside, seated in a corner table in front of a quaint little cafe enjoying an equally quaint breakfast when he sees the figure way off in the distance. Already there are whispers all about him, scandalized gossip over the youth's choice in clothes and what sort of ( ... )

Akito doesn't know what do expect when he catches a flash of someone walking toward him. He may be mute now, but he isn't blind nor deaf - he hears the gossip about him and sees the looks he's getting, but he can ignore it. He can feel the air on his now-dry skin and grasping at his hair and not even the pain of a thousand daggers or the gossip of a whole town can take that away from him.

It takes him a moment to realize that he's being spoken to and not of this time. That this man is addressing him - asking if he needs help. But does he need help? How can he even ask for it if he does? Unsure of how to answer, Akito simply clutches his tatters closer around him as he smiles just a touch sheepishly (strained) with a small nod of his head.

He thinks he needs those fabrics the other earth beings are wearing. Maybe then they will stop staring at him with such judgmental eyes.

Ah, Uru thinks, eyes lighting up in recognition. Can he not speak?

He doesn't deal with this sort of thing often, and for a few moments is unsure of what to do with himself. At the nod, he nods in return, and once more his gaze falls on the trail of bloody footprints left behind in the boy's wake. It looked like they were coming from the coast... perhaps he'd stepped on some broken glass? With no shoes, it was certainly a possibility.

"I have a room," he states, calmly watching the boy's face for any change in his expression. "It's in town, not too far. Could you make it if you had to walk?"

Close as they are, he's able to see the delicate features of the one before him and he can't help but be taken aback. There is an almost gentle fragility to the youth -- though perhaps that was something that could be credited to Uru's own understanding of humans -- that he is compelled not to ignore, under any circumstance.

It's an odd feeling, really, and one he has difficulty identifying.

A room? That isn't what he needs, he doesn't think, but if there will be less staring eyes Akito will gladly accept it. The pain in his new limbs is at a point that he can just ignore it - he's felt worse pain before - and his legs are strong despite being so new that he can nod with no uncertainty. All he wants to do is keep moving and taking in all these new sights. He thinks he could walk all day and night if he had to, and still not be tired.

A breeze blows past him again, though this time it brings some sky-sand with it, tickling his nose in an unfamiliar way. He sneezes, terrifying himself. Whatever the sensation was it wasn't harmful, at least. His body was still working fine. Akito crinkles his nose once the shock wears off, wondering if the air will make him do that a lot.

[ooc: it's better than 1-2 sentences for every tag, at least! I like a nice, happy medium myself. Like a couple paragraphs or something. ;D]

"All right, then." He smiles, in as warm a manner as he can muster, despite his lack of experience in these kinds of things. He's given up on identifying the feeling for now and pushes it to the back of his mind for later, content to focus on the task at hand ( ... )

The stranger's hand is very warm - surprisingly so, since he's used to the chilled touches of his people. He can feel his cheeks heat in response and brings his free hand up to touch them curiously. His skin has never really felt hot before, so it's strange to him. It doesn't seem unusual though and so he ignores it after a moment, turning his attention instead to the new sights presented before him.

The houses are different, and the food, and there are odd animals running around, covered in hair. The smells are different, too. He can't place any of them, but he especially enjoys one particularly sweet scent. It makes his stomach gurgle and he feels his cheeks grow hot again at the sound.

[ooc: I'm usually just happy to get a tag period, so I don't mind the lengths so much! I like reading longer tags but they are pretty hard to respond to, imo. :|a]

Uru ensures that the pace he's walking at is something the boy can keep up with, but still a bit hurried enough so as to get them off the streets quicker. When they've reached the shadow of the inn it's only then that he realizes he hasn't even introduced himself properly and turns to rectify this immediately for the sake of politeness.

"I'm Uranborg, by the way." He knows the boy can't really talk, so the gesture feels a little incomplete when he attempts to shake his hand. But it's good enough, he thinks, and soon after that he's pushing the door of the inn open and guiding the other inside. Hopefully it was near enough to breakfast that there would be something left over to eat.

[ ooc; I feel you there. I'm sorry for turtling around everywhere gah. I think the writing slump is trying to get me. 8|;; ]

Akito takes the proffered hand, shaking it in return with a nod. It's a strange name, but it's not any odder than what has brought him here to begin with. He wishes he could give his own name in return, but supposes that he lost that when he gave up who he was before. He is no longer Akito, a creature of water and ocean - he's someone entirely new.

The building he's brought to looks cozy and welcoming enough, even in the shadows. It's nothing like the homes of brightly coloured corals under the sea, but it has a charm about it he finds that he likes.

Within it is just as homely and welcoming as it appears to be. There are warmly-colored carpets decorating the floorspace, bookshelves, a sitting area and other things like that. Rather than greet the young daughter mulling about the front desk, he instead makes his way straight for the staircase leading to the rooms above. He wanted to get a good look on what exactly it was that was making the youth's feet bleed, preferably without any outside interference.

The room he was rented was small, but big enough to hold the few things he'd brought to this world. Among them was a small charm from his homeland, a chunk of rock from the cliff he was born on attached to a thin string, and a small, faded-red scale of sorts. He allowed the boy enough room to make his way to the bed or the chair, should he need to.

"Please." He inclined his head politely. "Make yourself comfortable."

He follows Uranborg without question - simply thankful for the welcoming company, and the kindness he'd been offered. It allows for him to continue gawking at all of the strange things he's never seen before without worry of wandering someplace he shouldn't be. The entrance is odd, and he wonders what kind of homes are set up in such a way.

The room is nice though. Small and cozy and just enough, really. He inclines his head in reply, making his way over to perch on a chair. It's a relief to be off of his feet, though his legs still ache as his body adjusts to their presence. He ignores it though, and instead turns his attention to examining the room they're in more closely.

There wasn't much in the way of medical supplies here, but he did have an abundance of hand towels in the bathroom graciously provided to him by the innkeepers. He brought one out now, along with a smaller dish filled with water he'd used mostly to wash his face, and set it quietly on the table next to the youth.

It was strange, having someone else in the room with him. He'd grown accustomed to his solitude, and yet the boy's presence wasn't entirely displeasing. Whether or not he was human remained to be seen, but Uru pushed these thoughts to the back of his mind and prepped the towel, dipping it in the cool, fresh water of the dish and wringing out the excess before pulling a chair up next to the boy's.

"Your foot, let me see it." He tapped his knee in indication.

Akito watches curiously, though curiosity quickly changes to confusion at the request. His foot? He looks at his own knee, puzzled. Uranborg has to be referring to some part of his anatomy though, since the only thing he has is his body and the tattered sail.

It takes him a moment, but he figures out what a 'foot' is and hesitates before holding it out to be looked at.
