"Well, hello there, aren't you just a pretty little thing." The smirk was practically written all over the woman's tone as she stopped her newest victim in the hallway. She was an older woman who appeared to be in her late thirties, with a few wrinkles around her eyes-- laughter lines she would have called them --and obviously not as young as half ( Read more... )

It took Erk all of about five seconds to realize what Kata's intentions were. Once he did, he blushed brightly and tried to glance away. It wasn't that the older woman wasn't very attractive, but he wasn't really used to being propositioned so openly even in the hotel. "I, ah... w-well..."

He was reasonably sure "lapuska" was a term of endearment, but that really didn't make this any less awkward.

Oh great, she was making the poor guy nervous. Pasha felt oddly guilty on her mother's behalf although she knew the woman had next to no shame when it came to these kinds of things. It was embarrassing to have her do this and the little navigator felt responsible.

With a sigh she glanced around the corner once more before grinning fakely she walked up beside the poor man, grabbing onto his hand and kissing him softly on the cheek. "Hello darling." This was going to be the only way to save the poor man after all and she didn't know his name. "Mother! What a horrible surprise to see you here? I see you hawe met my boyfriend?" She smiled at the older woman, sending clear 'back off' vibes.

Erk was really hoping this was a trick to get the older woman to back off, because the alternative was that this girl actually thought he was her boyfriend, and he didn't really want to have to be the one to disabuse her of the idea. Either way, he managed to go even redder at the kiss, but smiled at her weakly. "Oh, hello, love."

Pasha gave him an apologetic smile before stepping in front of him, letting go of his hand. The girl's mother quirked an eyebrow. "Not sharing today, Pasha?" She asked. "Your little friend looks a treat, I'm so glad I raised a daughter just like myself." Kata smiled, but there was nothing maternal about it, but it was fierce, the manner in which her lips pulled back over her teeth.

"Sorry. You can't hawe this one. He's mine, Kata." She stated, folding her arms over his chest. "There are many others in this place better suited to you. Leawe him and myself alone. I do not wish for you to contact me again." At Kata's raised eyebrow she turned on her heel, grabbing the man's hand once more with no more then a 'Come along now, dear.' and marched them both around the corner before promptly dropping his hand and starting to apologise profusely. "I am so so so so sorry, sir. I do not think she will bother you again though."

Erk shook his head, still blushing brightly. "N-no, it's fine. Sorry. Um, thank you... Pasha. I wasn't sure how I was going to get out of that. I'm Erk. And yes, I know it's a strange name." He tended to attach that to his introductions a lot, after all this time in the hotel.

"A woman such as her...so embarrassing, she should know better by her age now." Pasha muttered to herself before smiling lightly. "Erk? That is a wery interesting name." She thought for a moment, definitely not the oddest she had heard but not the most usual. "I like it."

He'd nearly recovered, but he colored a little at her compliment. "Ah... thank you. Pasha's quite an interesting name as well - I don't think I've ever encountered the language it comes from?"

"It is a shortened wersion of Polina. Pasha just fits better." Names were a sore topic with her, especially given that the meaning of her name was 'littlest one' and she was severely lacking in height. "Russian. It is my mother tongue, not standard terran."

Erk rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly. "Ah. I'm afraid I'm not really that familiar with languages from Earth - I come from a country called Etruria, and I'm relatively sure the only one with that name on Earth ceased to exist a few thousand years ago."

"Not many are--" She had began to interrupt, in her time Russian was a steadily declining language with most turning to Standard instead as part of the citizens of Earth rather then of individual countries. "Oh." She blinked. Oh. Well that was...shocking to say the least.

He brushed his hair back. "Just in case, you know, this didn't make it obvious. I don't think purple is a natural hair color on Earth, but it is on Elibe." He sighed. "Sorry. I'm rambling."

"Not natural but not unusual either." The girl cocked her head to the side curiously. She had seen a fair few aliens in her time with oddly coloured hair but purple was a new one even for her. Pasha smiled winningly "Not at all. It is my duty as an officer of Starfleet to learn all about new ciwilisations and cultures." If only she had her notepad though.

"I've only met one person from Earth with naturally blue hair, and I think she was actually from Mercury." He shrugged a little. "Starfleet? So you travel between different planets, then?"

He wondered if she'd notice the distinction he made between "planets" and "worlds".

"Yes. My current task is with the Enterprise, we are on a fiwe year exploratory and documentary mission." Technically she was breaking the Prime Directive, but if he was from her future then he would know it.

"I see..." It was hard to say if he was from her future or not, considering he was from an alternate universe. But given that his universe had a bad habit of getting stuck in the Middle Ages...
