GBE | Clones | Aphro as needed

Aug 07, 2010 01:01

You're in one of the Hotel's many rooms minding your own business (or maybe minding anyone's business but your own; that does tend to happen a lot at the Love Hotel) when a blonde woman dressed in nothing but one of the hotel's red bedsheets streaks past in a tearing hurry. She looks furtively behind her to see that she's not being followed, and ( Read more... )

Zelgadiss blinked, looking from one to the other. He recognized that face... "Mokuren? What's...?"

Then he looked at the one that wasn't trying to hide behind him and blushed brightly. "Wh-what's going on here? Let her go," he added as he realized the... other Mokuren had grabbed her, reaching out to push her hand away.

Mokuren yanked herself out of her clone's grasp. "Zelgadis! I-" How did she not recognize him sooner? He was kind of hard to miss. But, well, she had more pressing concerns. "It's the Hotel. It's made a clone of me and now she... Well, just look at her."

The clone primped and posed.

"On second thought, don't."

He flushed and glanced down. "Er. Right. Uh." He sighed. "Great. Just what we needed. That was sarcasm," he added, just in case the clone couldn't take the hint.

Looking up at her, his eyes staying fixed on her face (somehow), he continued, "Most people, after being told no, would actually consider that perhaps the person they're after isn't interested."

Clone-Mokuren gestured wildly. "But she hasn't been laid in over two weeks! This has to be remedied. I'm just lending a hand!" She tried to put an arm around Mokuren, but Mokuren scooted out of reach.

"I don't need your help for that, thank you so very much."

"Hah, and what were you doing before I showed up? You weren't going to get any action holing up in your room listening to Carmen and trying to decide if you wish Shion was here." The clone scoffed.

A sort of strangled noise came from the back of Mokuren's throat, like a verbal keysmash. "You had to bring that up?" she said, in a plaintive tone so low it was doubtful the clone heard her. "I - Just go away!"

Zel wondered vaguely who Shion was, but now really wasn't the time. He shook his head and raised an arm between them protectively, suddenly wishing he hadn't just gotten up when they came in; he wasn't wearing a shirt, and he was suddenly quite conscious of this. "Look, if she says she's fine she's fine. If she needs your help, I'm sure she'll ask for it.

"But you can't just say no! That's not how it works here!" the clone said. Meanwhile, something snapped in Mokuren. She managed to push her clone out of the room, and when the duplicate was clear away, she slammed the door closed, and locked it.

"No." she said.

Mokuren hung her head, as the clone banged on the door from outside, yelling muffled imprecations. "I'm... sorry about this. If the Hotel is truly sentient, it must not be very bright... She's crazy."

He sighed, reaching out to take her hand softly. "It's all right. It's not as if it's your fault. I'm sorry I couldn't help more."

"Oh no, it was my problem," protested Mokuren, withdrawing her hand. "I should have just dealt with her myself instead of just running away."

The banging continued.

"Er. Perhaps I should have locked her in. We may be stuck in here until she goes away, and who knows how long that will take?"

"You don't need to apologize, Mokuren. Honestly." He sighed. "Well, as long as nothing too strange happens in here, I suppose we should be fine." He was assuming Mokuren wasn't too likely to suddenly jump him, ignoring what the clone had said.

"Right." Yeah, Mokuren wasn't about to jump him. Of course, there still was another matter to take care of. "On that note, do you have any spare clothes I could borrow?"

She scratched the back of her neck sheepishly. "It's just, on top of that mess with the clone, I couldn't find any clothes in my room whatsoever." Otherwise, Zelgadis could be sure that she wouldn't be traipsing around in just a blanket.

"Of course. Just a second... I'm afraid they might be a little big for you, though." Zel was relatively short, on account of not aging as fast as a human, but he was still bigger overall than Mokuren was.

Mokuren shrugged. "I don't mind. Anything is better than nothing." Wait, no, Mokuren could think of several outfits that would be worse than nothing, but there was no point in being specific.

In that case she'd just get a random shirt and pair of pants and, after a moment's thought on Zel's part, he offered her a belt as well, since pants wouldn't do a lot of good if they didn't stay on. "Is this all right?"

Mokuren put on the offered clothes quickly. "It'll do." The clothes were indeed ill-fitting for her, but it was much better than a bedsheet. The shirt was perfectly fine, if loose. The pants were tight around the thighs, but loose around the waist, but they covered her. Right now, that was the important thing.

He flushed a little, turning away as she changed. "Wish I could have been more help," he sighed, running a hand through his ear. "Anyway it's, uh, been a while, Mokuren. How are you, apart from her?"

"Frustrated." Mokuren plopped on the bed. "She's right about one thing. Brooding about it won't help."

She hastened to explain before she confused Zelgadis any further. "I mentionned how I used to live on the moon? Well, before I was brought here, there was one other person left on the base. Shion. I wish I hadn't left him there alone but it wasn't as though I had any choice in the matter." Just thinking about it agitated her.
