Erk flushed a little as he stepped into the room and was greeted with a wonderful view of his dad's secretary's backside. He glanced away quickly, feeling his ears burn, and cleared his throat.

"Er, hey, Rinoa?"

It really didn't help matters that he'd had something of a crush on her for a while now. As the boss' son it was only natural that he'd spend the summer as an intern, but at the moment he was attempting to run an errand for his father.

The clearing of the throat caused her to tense a bit and she turned her head a bit to look, but the voice that greeted her was enough for her to recognize who he was. She smiled just a bit when she had visual confirmation.

"Hi Erk, what are you doing here so late?"

Well he was the son of the boss, maybe he was going to talk with his father about the meeting tomorrow or something. Remembering that she moved back to look for the file she needed.

Erk managed a somewhat sheepish smile of his own. "Dad sent me to get a file he left here when he went home, but I have no idea where the thing is; it isn't in his office. I was, uh, going to ask if you could help, but I can see you're busy."

The amount of bald-faced lying in that sentence was staggering; there was no file at all, and the boss hadn't sent him back. He just wanted some time alone with his father's beautiful secretary.

Rinoa blinked a bit, a file? That was strange, if his father had left something behind he will have called her ahead of time to have it ready and then give it to Erk, but then again with the rush with the meeting tomorrow her boss could have forgot that.

"Hmm…" Finally finding the file she needed, she stood up and slid the drawer close. "Are you sure is not in your father's office? He usually leaves some important files there when he doesn't hand them to me."

"I just looked. I guess I could have missed it, but I really don't think so." He brushed a lock of hair back behind his ear, a nervous habit of his. "I know, it's weird, but I can't find it anywhere."

"Well that's strange." She walked back to her desk and rested the manila folder against the smooth wooden surface. "Did your father tell you what kind of file it was? Maybe I have it in the cabinet."

Erk shook his head. "He didn't, sorry. Just that he wanted me to find it." Inwardly he was busy cursing himself for not thinking this through better. Or better yet trying to find a way to get through this that didn't involve fictitious files. But it had been an impulse, and he was sure that any other way he tried would just end with her rejecting him.

Rinoa was finding this just a bit to strange, why would he sent Erk back without mentioning the file he needed? There was something strange here and she couldn't quite place her finger on it. "Well you can call him if you want, that way we will know what we are looking for."

Erk flushed. "... All right. You've caught me. There's no file. I just... wanted to see you."

She was quiet for a long time, her mind trying to process what he had just said and replaying it a bit on her mind. "You wanted to see me, why?"

"Because... well..." He flushed. "I've had a crush on you for the longest time. I wanted to... see you without anyone else interfering."

There was another long moment of silence before she finally smiled a bit at him, "And you couldn't talk with me during break time Erk?"

"It's... not really the same thing." He started to turn away, sighing. "You think I'm just a stupid kid, don't you?"

Of course she does. There's no way I'll ever be anything else to her.

"Ohh, no, of course not," Rinoa quickly replied and it was rather sincere. "I actually think is rather cute that you came here to tell me that, but well…" She looks down at the floor and sighs. "I'm not exactly someone your father will approve of."

Erk went even redder as he looked back at her. "It's that obvious why I wanted to talk to you, huh?"

He shook his head. "Why wouldn't he? I mean, he knows how good you are at what you do."

“Well I wouldn't say obvious because I hadn't realized it." While she had seen him around the place, since he was working as an intern, she had never suspected he was attracted to her.

Rinoa sighed just a bit. "For starters, I'm just an employee and you’re the son of the boss, it wouldn't look that good and well I might be a good worker but maybe not material for his son."
