Dreams came often to Yuuki. Random, whimsical stories that belonged in a children's book; joyful ones with peace and joy and those she cared about. Dreams that wove together the more startling images from her true past and the threads of the what-could-have-beens and the possibilities the future held. They were common, yet altogether not. Sometimes Yuuki could remember them, many times they faded just as her eyes blearily opened to a new day.
Something about this very moment was clearly off. Red satin sheets where plush ivory used to be; her head dazed and a bit heavy at the moment of waking. She sat up after another few moments, eyes slightly widening at the shock that came with the sight of a solid red room. She still wore the thin nightgown that she remembered falling asleep in, although the chill of the room actually felt quite nice, opposed to tempting her back beneath the sheets like usual...
"Th- this is..."
It's the spike of pained heat that cut off Yuuki's spoken thoughts and worries. Her brow creased as she curled over in her seat, a hand grasping at her chest and then to her throat. The dry, heavy ache in her throat only worried her now; more than where she was. This was more crucial.
Her movements were almost painstakingly slow. Bit by bit, one foot in front of the next, Yuuki made her way to the door in order to lock it tight. On her way back to sit on the bed, however, she fell to her knees, even while trying to hold the wall for support.
Deciding it was good for now, Yuuki winced and curled up on her side, fingers scratching at her throat again. Why does it have to be so painful? She let out a shaky breath.
Maybe if she fell back to sleep again, she'd wake from this awkward, almost frighteningly real dream.
[ooc: Um. Technically Amat!Yuuki here (and, er, has the body of an 18 y/o), but with blurry memories of it. Honestly does think she's having a dream, of course~]
