I am really conflicted here. I can choose two different art programs and they both have there strong points and craps, so if it was YOU, which would you choose, based on the pro's and cons of each program?
Summary: Let's say you're currently taking a year off schooling to pimp up your portfolio for scholarships. You'll need to finish class by March

But even then, the first is a contender. The teachers are the KEY element - for me at least, if I can't learn from/respect the teacher, I eventually just block them out. And, if the teachers are that good, you can attempt to work on your portfolio on your own and still ask for their help. Or like, at the end of class, talk to them and ask their opinion on your pieces. I'm under the impression that all artists like to look at and discuss other people's art, so that'll help a lot.
Living on your own would also help you to learn a sense of independence. It'd give you an idea of what it's like to manage yourself and become responsible.
I can't tell if you're more into 2-d or 3-d, but in my opinion, go with the first one. You're ASSURED a good education there, albeit in 3-d, but if the other place has bad teachers, it seems to me like people only improve because the CLASS makes them draw, not the teachers' assistance. And if they're just improving from drawing a lot, you might as well do that on your own.
I mean, I know $1000 is a lot of money, but... for an education? That's pretty cheap. And if the difference between a great education and a maybe-great education is only $1000, I'd say go with the better one.
