Basic Synopsis: Yoochun and Junsu's lives get entangled the moment their parents decide to marry each other. Yoochun is older, shorter and not cool at all. Junsu is younger, taller and overly cool. For Yoochun, his "brother" is perfect and that is annoying. For Junsu, Yoochun is perfect in his own way.
Sometimes, looking for something won't let you see what is already there...

Year of 2010 : “Where everything starts and ends”

On the following month, Junsu got back to Korea. At the airport, there were his parents and Yoochun, nervous as ever.

When the door in front of them opened, they could see the people who had shared the same flight with Junsu and soon enough they saw the boy, wearing jeans, a t-shirt, a black jacket and a sunglasses which made him look much more mature. Right by his side there was a girl, shorter than him, brown wavy hair and a serene expression.

‘She must be Jang Ri In’ Yoochun thought, seeing in her all the traits and details that his classmates had described previously. There was no doubt that they did make a beautiful couple although Yoochun hated to admit that.

‘So that’s the one to whom he wants to get married to...’

Interrupting his toughts, Yoochun concentrated in keeping a smile while looking at them and specially at Junsu that gave his father and mother a hug and then proceeded into hugging him too. It was strong and brotherly only.

“I missed you, hyung”

Yoochun was surprised by those words. After all both of them had separated in a less than civilized way and somehow the warm hug from Junsu made him regret all the foul thoughts he gad about him. “I missed you too.” He said, hugging Junsu back.

“Oh, by the way,” Junsu started, leaving Yoochun’s arms “this is Jang Ri In, my future wife.”

“Junsu...” She whispered

“What? Did you change your mind?”

“It’s embarrassing in front of your family...”

Junsu’s father greeted the girl as well as Yoochun’s mother and both of them seemed to have liked her immediately. Yoochun couldn’t help to like her a little too despite everything that was happening. She looked like a sincere and honest girl at first sight.

Junsu left the bags with his parents, but didn’t go with them since he explained that he had to take Ri In home. Yoochun offered himself to drive them there, since he had gone in is car to the airport and Junsu gladly accepted the offer.

After leaving the girl at her house and after Yoochun witnessing a bit of the intimacy that Junsu had with Ri In through his rear mirror, he ended up looking away from the two of them. He felt like he was getting in the middle of something he was not a part of.

A little while later, Junsu got into the car “We can go now”.

Yoochun started the engine and drove off, heading to their house in silence. Junsu was the one who started the conversation.

“So, tell me what did I miss while I’ve been gone”

“Nothing special. Time seems to have stopped.”

“Nothing? Nothing at all? That is boring” Junsu said, pouting a little.

“Well, Vinnie decided to open a new club and expand his business,” Yoochun started “oh and Su Jin and Ahn Ji are going to be parents soon.”

“What? Did they even date?”

“Now they do.”

“Things sure go by fast” Junsu said, looking out of the window.

“Look who’s talking, Mr. soon-to-be-groom.”

Junsu smiled and Yoochun thanked the fact that he remained silent and the fact that he didn’t get that his tone was not the happiest while talking about it.

“What can I say? Life has these unexpected turn of events.”

“So it was true that she really was the love of your life.”

This time, Junsu catched the slightly bitter tone on Yoochun’s words and he didn’t smile after that comment. “Let’s say she will be the woman of my life.”

“Oh c’mon Junsu, aren’t you marrying out of love?”

“Of course I am, but she was not the love of my life. It is the most important one now, but not the biggest.”

“Does she know that?” Yoochun asked, curious.

“She is a big girl, Yoochun. She knows I love her and that is what it matters.”

“I didn’think you were so grown up now, dongsaeng.” Yoochun mocked.

“People change.”

People do change and his brother was definitely more mature and different since the last time he saw him. Yoochun tried to look for signs of the old Junsu, the one who confused him and made him feel unsteady, but he found nothing.

When they finally got home, Yoochun opened the door, letting Junsu inside.

“Welcome home” Yoochun said

“It’s good to be back. Ah! Now that I think about it: I’ll steal your bedroom again!”

“It’s not a problem since the room it’s yours too. I made a few changes though.”

Junsu got curious about the ‘changes’ that Yoochun talked about and when he got into the room he almost didn’t recognize it. The colour of the walls was different and now all of them except the one where the bunker was were white. The other wall was red, the colour of their desks had changed also to a much lighter tone and the white wall near Yoochun’s desk had a flowery motif that reached almost to the ceiling. Part of the side wall had cds adorning it.

“What happened here?”

“I was bored so I decided to rearrange the room. I’m thinking about doing the same to our parent’s room.” Yoochun explained.

“Now you are an interior designer?”

“I decided to major on that, yes. So if you need a decorator when you move to your new house...” Yoochun said, jokingly

“Well, we are planning on staying at Ri In’s house after the wedding, at least in the beginning, because I want to start working meanwhile, but there is something that I want you to do for sure.”

“What?”

“Well, I need someone to help Ri In planning the wedding”

He was kidding, right? He could only be kidding!

“Don’t ask me that, Junsu...”

“Why not?”

“Because I might not resist the temptation to ruining it.” Yoochun was being honest. Too honest.

“You would need to have the guts for that.”

“You are right, I had forgotten that detail.” He agreed, sarcatically.

Yoochun ended up agreeing into helping Ri In preparing the wedding. The couple set up the date to be three months from that day and since then, Yoochun started with the preparations. From the church’s decoration, the place for the guests after the wedding, the cake, the catering company to the bride’s dress.

Ever since he started, Yoochun would consult Ri In, asking for her opinion and then would show her his ideas.

Having two weeks left for the ceremony, the bride had her last tryout for the dress.

“Yeobuseo? Yah, where are you? Your bride is waiting for you. You are supposed to take her to her tryout”

“I’m sorry but I won’t make it in time. I’ll have a meeting right now and I won’t be able to be there”

“What meeting? Are you the company’s CEO? You work there for two months and already have big meetings? What am I supposed to do? Send her home?” Yoochun said, panicking already.

“Go with her, please.”

“I have enough work already planning your wedding, now you want me to babysit your bride as well?”

“You punk! Just go with her and don’t argue with me.”

Junsu hung up and Yoochun was left with one more unpleasant task to do. Anyway, he took the girl to her dress tryout and stayed around while she tried a more than awsome dress, to which he had given his opinion also which he regretted now. He thought that he should have made her pick an awful design that didn’t show all of her strong points.

She was beautiful, Yoochun had to admit, but somehow looking at her wearing the wedding dress that she’d wear to marry Junsu in a couple of weeks, made his blood boil and yet he knew he had no right to feel like that.

The tryout came to a end and the last retouches would be done so that the dress was ready way before the ceremony.

Ri In changed clothes and went out, thanking the dressmaker and her assistants. Yoochun bowed also and left at once.

“Yoochun-sshi, I want to thank you for coming with me today. I know you are busy with the preparation of the ceremony, that it’s your senior year at college also and that you don’t particularily like these ‘tasks’. The girl said, bowing respectfully in front of the boy.

“It was nothing. Junsu asked me anyway.” He brushed off the topic.

“Even so, thank you. By the way, Yoochun-sshi?” The boy looked at her “I would like to request something of you. Actually I had this conversation with Junsu and we thought that we wanted you to be our best man. I’d like you to consider the proposition.”

Yoochun was caught completely off guard by the girl and didn’t know what to say at the moment. He didn’t want to be rude to her, but the truth was that there was things that not even him would be able to do and this was one of them, so he politely told her that he would think about it.

She didn’t insist any further.

On that day, when Junsu went home to have dinner, Yoochun confronted him.

“Yes, it’s true that we discussed that matter and we decided that we should ask you.” Junsu confirmed what Ri In told Yoochun

“With all respect that I have for her, because I’ve known her for a couple of months and for you, whom I consider as part of my family for thirteen years, I cannot accept the offer.”

Junsu let out a sigh “But you are the closest person to me. Only you can take that part.”

“It’s because I’m so close to you that I can’t accept it. A best man should promise to support the couple in any situation unconditionaly and in someway to also show his approval to their union. I can’t do that. I don’t even know why I decided to organize this wedding when I don’t even want to think about it.” Yoochun said

“Don’t you think it’s a bit late for that? Or were you waiting for something like this to happen so that you could have the guts to do something? Things change, Yoochun. People move on.”

Yoochun looked at Junsu. He had a seriour look in his eyes which matched his serious tone also “I think I take longer to move on. Can you blame me for that?”

“Actually I can” The younger stated “Are you familiar with that saying that says that men attract to them all sourse of evil as a consequence of their doings and choices? I told you that you had one opportunity. I looked for something when you would show me nothing and eventually you led me to her. After all your choices brought us to where we are now.

I am not going to insist for you to be our best man because I understand, or think I can understand at least, your reasons but don’t try to make me feel like I am using my marriage to run away from something because that is not true. Running away is more like what you usually do. Or should I say that avoiding reality is more like your style?”

Junsu let Yoochun alone and thinking about what he had just told him. Things were definitely harder to listen to when they were true.

The remaining two weeks until the wedding day went by in a flash and as expected, the actual day was one of nervous feelings, especially for Junsu who had just finished getting on his suit as was looking at himself on the mirror. Yoochun’s mother got into the room a while later, smiling, giving him an approving look and hugging him later. After all she was sending her younger ‘son’ into marriage.

The boy left home awhile later, along with his father and when he was getting into the car, he noticed that he had not seen Yoochun yet.

“He is organizing the party, so he must be preparing the last details at the church with the guests” His mother said.

Junsu nodded and got into the car that left for the church. As soon as he got there, Junsu was greeted by his friends, classmates and old highschool buddies as well as by his and Ri In’s family to whom he kept smiling while going through the aisle until the altar. Still, he couldn’t see Yoochun, so he asked about him to one of his friends who was sitting at the front row.

“I doubt he is here because I haven’t seen him today. I wonder if he is late.” She said

“Is he the bride? Geez!” Junsu blurted

The idea that Yoochun might not even attend the wedding kept bugging him. Not wanting to be the best man was something Junsu could understand but not even going to the church was too much, so he decided to take action. People would definitely move forward and things had to be finished or there would never be a chance for a new start.

Junsu approached his friend again and asked for her cellphone, trying to call Ri In. If he was lucky enough she’d still be home.

“Hello? I’m glad you picked up.”

“Is something wrong?”

“Listen, I need you to be late.”

“I am already late” The girl stated

“Even more than you are. I have to do something and if you get to the church before me, your family will kill me.”

“Drama queen. Ok, then. It must be something really important, or at least I hope it is for you to make me wait on my wedding day so I’m expecting compensation later on” She said

“Thank you Ri In-ah. It really is important. Thank you baby.”

Junsu finished the call and gave the device back to his friend before leaving the church in a hurry, while everyone looked at him, surprised.

Getting into the perfectly decorated car, he left to where he knew he’d find Yoochun and as soon as he got to the location, he found his brother’s sillouette.

Junsu took off his shoes and socks then, and walked at a hurried pace through the sand until he reached the older.

“Yoochun, what are you doing here? I thought you had a wedding to attend” Junsu said

Yoochun looked back, recognizing the voice and almost not believing Junsu was actually there. “Weren’t you supposed to be at YOUR wedding right now?”

“I should, but when I got to the church I noticed that a very important guest was missing. What do you think you are doing, missing my wedding?”

“Nothing. I just think I should not be part of it.”

Junsu sighed “You know? I am really not in the mood to give you a few slaps today and I don’t want to wrinkle my suit, so can I ask you to PLEASE stop being such an idiot once in your life and come with me?

“You don’t know what you are asking me, Junsu.”

“I am asking you what you’d ask me if we were in opposite situations. I am asking you to be a part of my happiness. Can’t you ignore your selfish side for today only? Is it too much to ask that the person for whom I care the most do something for me?

Yoochun inhaled deeply and tried hard not to let tears fall from his eyes.

“Why didn’t this work for us, Junsu? Why couldn’t I realize earlier?

Junsu smiled “I got all the intelligence genes, remember?” The boy said, managing to make the other smile too.

“So you tricked me when you promised to give me half of your perfection”

“For someone who claimed to be drunk at the time, you sure remember things well”

Yoochun’s expression hardened again “I wanted to go back in time. I’d change so many things…”

“What good is going to do to think about this now? Don’t you prefer to think that everything happens for a reason?

“You are seriously never going to change. You are still the same, did you know that? Lite ‘it’.” Yoochun said, looking at the sea in front of him.

“I changed my mind about you though. You don’t remind me of just an icecream now. You, Park Yoochun are like a melted icecream.

“Now I’m a melted icecream??”

“Yes, because it’s something I still love and always will but that I lost because too much time has passed. Even so, despite the little time that I had it, it made me happy.”

Yoochun didn’t say a word for a few seconds “You are the strangest creature I have ever met in my whole life, Kim Junsu.”

“So, are you coming now?”

“I’ll drive” Yoochun said, while getting up.

“Good, because I have to clean all this sand off my feet.”

“By the way, just one last thing” Yoochun said, while Junsu looked at him with questioning eyes “Sorry about this”

The older proceeded then into grabbing Junsu’s face and kissing him. The kiss lasted for awhile and after that Yoochun released the soon-to-be groom while smiling at him “That’s it. No regrets now.”

Junsu smiled back at him while both started running towards the car, putting it on the move soon after.

“Where’s your celphone?”

Yoochun gave him the device and Junsu proceeded into calling his fiancé. “Ri In-ah? Mianen baby, I am on my way now. Again.”

“Oh good. Then can I stop pretending to have all the disease symptoms in the world before someone forces me into going to a hospital now?”

“Yes.”

Junsu ended the call and hurried Yoochun into going as fast as he could. Even so, both Junsu and Ri In’s car arrived at the same time.

Junsu left the car, running towards the church and the altar while Yoochun remained inside the vehicle.

After a few indescreet looks, Junsu took a deep breathe when he saw his bride getting into the church, along her father and before she’d join him at the altar, Junsu saw Yoochun getting in and leaning on the chunch’s door, smiling at him.

Ri In and her father had reached him and the man let go of his daughter, while Junsu bowed respectfully to the elder. The boy took his future wife’s hand and glanced one last time towards the door, where Yoochun was, motioning his lips and talking to him in silence.

“Saranghaeyo” Junsu managed to understand while reading Yoochun’s lips

He smiled “I know” He said, silently towards his older brother.

Junsu took a stronger grip of Ri In’s hand while the girl smiled at him - as always - and smiling back, both turned to the front and faced the priest.

A new page of their story was being written right there and the future would start after that day.

A/N: And this is it, the final chapter. I know probably most of you will want to murder me (at least those who still had hope for YooSu), so please be gentle and don't hit me too hard, ok?
If you are already preparing your bricks to throw, I'll announce that there will be a sequel to this. It was not planned at first and it won't be written at once, but there'll be one. So cheer up a bit because there'll be more YooSu suffering love in the future ^_^

Now, I just want to thank everyone who followed the story and everyone who left me a comment. They do encourage me, know that. If you are part of those who didn't comment until now, here's your last chance. I'll be happy to hear from you.
As for future writtings, I'll be posting a few oneshots before I come back with a new chaptered fic so stay tunned, lol.
Thanks a lot sweeties. *hugs*
