Prologue || Chapter 1: Chances || Chapter 2: Going Back

Yoochun had one of those headaches that he did not remember having in a long time. He didn't know how but he had gotten himself stuck with a guy who claimed to be some kind of mystical entity who was there to help him repair all his mistakes however, nothing in that so called entity inspired any sense of trust to the boy.

The guy was weird, dressed weird, was blonde and wore make-up. What kind of superior entity wears make-up after all?

“I hope you realize that I can hear everything you are thinking Yoochun-sshi”

Yoochun jumped a little, not believing the other's words until he repeated exactly what he was thinking at the time “Get out of my brain! That is invasion of privacy.”

“It's not like I am doing it on purpose and I can't avoid it either so I suggest that you start thinking about what you are going to do from now on instead of keep your mind on the amount of eyeliner that I have.”

Yoochun frowned “How am I supposed to know what to do if you won't tell me anything?”

“It's not up to me to tell you what to do. You were the one saying that you wanted to change things and anything that I tell you might influence your decisions so I am not allowed to.”

“I am terrible at making decisions.”

“I know. Why do you think I can't tell you anything? Sometimes I wonder why do they give me only the most complicate cases” He wondered

Yoochun sighed, while looking at G-Kan, asking him finally what was he supposed to do first. The blonde's eye twitched a little at the question “Well, today is an important day to your family. Do you remember why?”

Yoochun thought for a little before answering and suddenly it hit him “My father's meeting. He is becoming the company's president today, right?”

“There's also something important about the 4th of June for you.”

“Yeah, it's my birthday.”

“Not only that. There's something else but that you'll have to remember by yourself.”

Yoochun rolled his eyes, disappointed that he was not getting all his answers.

His mother's voice interrupted his thoughts however and as soon as he heard her call his name, the other Yoochun, still in bed, started moving. Yoochun saw how he got up, still groggy, put on his uniform and grabbed his backpack, noticing that it had no books whatsoever inside.

“He is not going to school. I mean “I” am not going to school. Now that I recall, I was not in the mood to go to school that day and I had arranged for me and a couple of friends to ditch class and go play around. My dad found out later after... I had never seen him so angry before telling me that I was ruining everything for him.
I didn't attend the party that day...”

“No, you didn't.”

“Yah, he doesn't see me” Noted Yoochun, talking about his other self “so how am I allowed to change his actions?” Yoochun asked

“It's simple” G-Kan said “You'll only have to touch him and you will be allowed to enter his body like you were a spirit and control him. He won't know that you are inside.”

Yoochun found the whole process very weird. He was going to possess his own body to allow himself to change things he himself did. Definitely weird.

As he left the room, he ran until he got to the car where the past Yoochun was, looking as bored as ever. Yoochun's father got in a moment later and as soon as he did, the driver started the engine.

“Today's party starts at 4pm” The man said

“I know that” Yoochun replied, still looking at the window, and his future self started thinking that was even weirder to listen to himself talking.

Yoochun's father kept on talking “I believe I don't have to tell you that you must be present today, right?” The boy nodded “I hope you are not thinking about doing anything foolish to ruin this day”

“I don't know why do you insist so much in me being present, but don't worry.”

“You know that it's important for our family to maintain a good image.”

“Even if that so called family is falling apart.” Yoochun retorted and his father yelled his name at once.

He didn't look at his father but instead increased the ipod's volume just enough not to listen to the man.

The driver stopped the car as they arrived to the corner before Yoochun's school since the boy didn't like to be seen arriving in such a fancy way. Yoochun got out of the car and his future self followed close behind seeing how at the exact moment that his father's car disappeared, he turned at a different intersection and grabbed his cell phone in order for him to call his friends.

At that precise moment, the Yoochun from the future touched him, getting inside of the body and turned stopped the call. Instead, he sent a text to his friends, telling them that he wouldn't be able to meet them. After that, he got on the right path to go to school, arriving in a matter of minutes.

“So, how does it feel?”

G-Kan's voice made Yoochun jump yet again and glare at the blonde almost immediately “Would you STOP doing that, please? What are you talking about?”

“You are making changes. How does it feel like to do what you believe its right?”

“I don't know. How should I feel?” Yoochun asked, but G-Kan ignored him.

“Oh. Pretty girl at two o'clock” He said, pointing and Yoochun recognized one of his classmates, Min Young.

“What are you doing here, Yoochun? I thought you were going to hang out with Byung Soo.”

“Well, today it's an important day, so I had to come.”

“Are you talking about your father's party? I thought you said no one would even see you there.”

“I...changed my mind” The boy stuttered as the girl gave him a strange look before smiling slightly before going her way.

“She thought you sounded different.” G-Kan pointed

“No kidding? I could tell that even if I can't read her mind like you can. I was just thinking though: where was I supposed to go with Byung Soo and the others? I can't seem to remember now.”

“As soon as you change something, you will forget what you actually did in the past. Since you decided to come to school, you won't be able to remember what you supposedly did the first time around.”

In the afternoon, as usual, the driver went to pick Yoochun up, remembering that he would be waiting for him at the corner where he usually left the boy in the mornings. As expected, Yoochun was there which actually surprised the man who usually got there beforehand.

As he stopped the car, Yoochun got in and the man drove of and a fez minutes later the driver informed his young master that they would have to make a short stop since he had to go to the dry cleaning in order to pick up Yoochun's clothes for the party.

“Stop the car nearby then and I'll go there.” The man gave him a shocked look through the rear mirror as the boy said those words “What?”

“Nothing, sir.”

As the man pulled off the car, Yoochun got out and headed to the dry cleaner, right across the street.

“Good afternoon. I have something to pick up; it's in the name of Park Yoochun.” He said as the lady smiled and asked him to wait a moment.

When she returned, she gave him the clothes and received the payment, wishing him a good day as the boy quickly left the store.

Yoochun got out, still looking at the clothes and was suddenly surprised by a bi dog that kept barking at him and trying to jump like to him like he was possessed.

“Xiahki, down!” He heard his owner say as he pulled the dog's leash and tried to calm him “Xiahki!”

The boy insisted as Yoochun still looked at the white and fluffy canine that finally calmed down and allowed his owner to get a good grip at it's leash and keep him calm and by his side.

“I am sorry if he scared you” He said

“It's okay. He startled me a little, that's all.”

“Oh!” the boy said, pointing at Yoochun's shirt “He got your shirt all dirty! If you want I can - ”

“No, no, it's okay” Yoochun assured him “I am kind of late for an appointment and I have something to change into, so it's alright.”

The boy nodded in agreement “Ok then. I'm sorry about the scare. He can be pretty unpredictable sometimes” he noted, caressing his dog's fur while the animal kept licking his hand.

As strange as it was, Yoochun felt a chill run down his spine as he looked intently at the boy while he kept smiling to his dog like he was a two year old child who is just too happy with life.

He kept looking at the boy, or more like starring at him and at the same time going crazy in silence because he was sure he knew him and yet was unable to associate his face to any memory he could have of that guy and his dog.

“J-Junsu?” He said, tentatively and the boy looked at him, as he stopped caressing the white dog but the totally awkward moment ended up being interrupted by Yoochun's driver, who honked as soon as he saw the boy outside the store and taking too long.

Yoochun left, going straight to his car but not without looking back several times and seeing how the boy and his dog started walking away, stopping only while waiting for the traffic light to turn red so that they could cross the road.

The elder got inside the car with a heavy heart and a weird feeling, still being unable to stop looking back.

“Is everything okay, master Yoochun?” His driver inquired

“Yeah. Everything is fine.”

The driver didn't push on the matter anymore. Instead, he made a u-turn and got on the main road again.

As Yoochun was still feeling that weird feeling and before he got more agitated than he already was, G-Kan appeared again.

“Are you feeling alright?”

“No, I'm not. I don't know what is wrong with me. I just saw Juns... Jun...” He tried, but he couldn't remember all of a sudden “that guy with the dog... gosh, I knew his name a few seconds ago. What's going on? I can't remember a thing now.” Yoochun said, trying to keep his voice low so that the driver remained unable to hear him.

“It's natural. He is not going to be a part of your life anymore, so you'll forget everything about him.” The blonde explained

“Is that how it's supposed to be?” He asked, now a bit unsure about it

G-Kan put on his serious look then, which was not his usual thing to do unless he knew that things were about to get rough.

“These are the things that were supposed to happen if destiny had not decided to pull a stunt.”

“Am I really doing things right?” He insisted and G-Kan put his hand on top of the boys', making his spirit get out from his past self who looked around as he gained conscience of himself again and ended up sliding a bit on the back seat of the car and redirect his eyes for the window at his left side yet again with a boring expression.

With the danger of being heard talking to thin air gone, Yoochun could once again talk freely to G-Kan, questioning the man again about the decisions that he was making so far.

“Why is it that him, I mean, I, am so calm? I didn't even want to go to the party that day, right? - Yoochun asked, while looking at his other self.

“You see, as things progress and things change both of you start forgetting about what would happen if a determined decision was not taken. Him, as well as you won't even be able to remember about what happened five minutes ago if that thing is not bound to happen due to some of the changes that you made. He is still bored and he still doesn't want to go to the party, but you decided to change things and go so he doesn't even remember what he had decided to do today. It's like it was never meant to happen.”

“This is too confusing.”

G-Kan paused slightly in his speech, before going on and seconds later he proceeded into further explanation.

“Although I showed up and gave you an opportunity to go back, all in all there are only two possibilities regarding a person's choices: either that person comes to realize what really matters to them and acknowledges that what they have is the best they could ever ask for OR they decide to do down another path that may or not be the one that was initially decided for them.” He said “As far as humans are concerned, each and every one of them has a predefined fate as soon as they are born. Everything that they do, everything that happens in their life has a purpose that will lead them to live the life they are supposed to live; That is why human beings live and die, having an established time for all of that.”

“What happened to the 'I'm master of my own destiny' thing?” Yoochun asked

“That is what people like to believe in order not to admit that they do not have the control over everything like they think they do. Although your choices do change the path you walk on, they never change your final destiny. That is why they say that what matters is not the end of the road, but how you get there. However,” He proceeded “Exceptions happen when two soulmates meet.”

“You are talking about me and... that guy... whatever his name was. I am REALLY getting frustrated because I can't remember his name, you know?”

The blonde smiled at Yoochun's frustration. “Junsu” He added.

“Junsu. That's it. Junsu. Junsu. Junsu.” Yoochun kept repeating the name, trying not to forget about it this time and that made G-Kan smile again.

“When two human beings are destined to become inseparable as soon as they meet, not even fate can interfere. Your fate was decided to go one way until you met Junsu.” Yoochun gave the boy a serious look then as the car had just stop at a red traffic light “Five years ago, on this precise day, you made a decision that changed the course of things and made it possible for you and him to meet. Today, despite making a different choice, you are in the same position as you were years back but there is something different this time around.”

Yoochun sent him a questioning look

“At that time, you made the right choice. That time, you knew what you wanted.”

“Are you telling me that I did something wrong now? I mean, I don't even know what I'm doing and I thought that if I made things right with my father and if what happened before could change, than he would be able to see me in a new light and things could be different, you know?”

“Well, you forgot the motivations you had to do what you did that day. You didn't want to go to your father's party because you had a point to make; although you wanted him to look at you, you didn't want to be restrained either. Now you just want to have his attention no matter what and that has consequences.” He said and suddenly disappeared, leaving Yoochun not knowing what to do next.

The boy kept thinking to himself, trying to analyse G-Kan's words, but unable to remember whatever happened or whatever he decided to do that day.

He kept mumbling alone, adjusting on the seat, on the right side of the car, opposite his other self and turned his face to the window on his right. Looking at the street, he could see the people walking and unconsciously directed his eyes to one of the intersections where he could see the same boy he had seen moments ago with his dog, waiting to cross the street and he mused at how both of them were noticeable between the crowd: the white dog and the boy also dressed in white. By the time the traffic light finally turned green, the car moved once again and Yoochun saw the boy in white getting far from his sight until he was completely gone.

As Yoochun lost sight of Junsu, he realized something else approaching on his right side and in a fraction of second he saw everything suddenly happening in slow motion and a white truck getting closer and closer to the car as he started to think that something ought to be terribly wrong.

He took a glance at his past self, at the exact moment when the other happened to look his way, making him feel extremely weird even though he knew the other was not able to see him and making him realize that he was actually looking at the window. As all around him turned pitch-black, Yoochun heard the profuse sound of crushing metal and his already acute headache turned twice as bad as it was in the beginning. The sounds soon disappeared as his vision had before and he felt like he was falling into a deep sleep all over again.
