Title: Hot Coffee & Chocolate Cupcakes
Rating: PG-13 || Genre: Romance || Chapters: 1
Pairing(s): YooSu
Warning: Overly sensitive Junsu being a crybaby and probably too much cheesyness ^^
Basic Synopsis: Junsu lives with his boyfriend, Yoochun, plus his 3 friends from college: Changmin, Yunho and Jaejoong. After months looking for a job, Junsu is getting desperate and despite his 'perfect' relationship with Yoochun, things get different when the other shows that he is afraid of commitment
Next morning, Yoochun got up late and it took his brain a moment to process the fact that he was not in his room so he hurriedly got of the bed and left the room in order to get his clothes and get ready. It would be perfect if Junsu was not in the room, but of course he was; in fact, Yoochun nearly knocked him down while trying to get in, both of them opening the door at the same time.
Junsu did not have the happiest look on his face that was certain, although he did look better than the previous night. Yoochun kept staring at the boy though, unable to move his hand from the door knob.
“You are going to be late.” The boy said, matter-of-factly
“I know” Yoochun stuttered but finally went inside to get dressed while Junsu left the room, going to the kitchen where Jaejoong was already, preparing breakfast as Changmin finished setting the table.
“Good morning Junsu. Are you okay?” The blonde asked
“Fine.”
“Yoochun is not coming?” Changmin inquired
“I don't know. He is getting dressed.”
Jaejoong tilted his head at the tone the younger was using to talk about his boyfriend “Is everything okay with you guys? Yoochun told me you had an argument”
“It's nothing; just me being silly.”
“Well, you don't look like you are too happy.” Jaejoong started, but stopped at once as soon as Yoochun got in the kitchen, claiming that he was late.
“Why didn't Yunho wake me? Where is he?”
“I'll get going now” Junsu said, getting up while grabbing just an apple from the fruit's basket and kissing Yoochun on the cheek before leaving.
Yoochun choked on the pancake that he was eating after that and mentally thanked Changmin for having a wide knowledge of the Heimlish method.
“He is so pissed off...” Jaejoong noted
Yoochun finally calmed down and evened his breathing “But he didn't make a fit.”
“Yeah, because that's how he is like when he is mad; why don't you know something as simple as that? And why did you have to tell him that you don't want to be restrained? That is like the dumbest thing to say.”
Yoochun scowled “I didn't think while talking, okay? I just don't believe that a single ring will have all that meaning. We love each other, why would having a ring make us love each other more?”
Jaejoong smirked at his friend. He was lying so obviously that it was pathetic “Is that right? Well I think it means a lot and I believe that you also think that way because otherwise it wouldn't bother you so much. After all it's “just” a ring, right?”
Yoochun remained silent as Jaejoong sent him a triumphant look.
“Hey, psychologist wannabe, the toasts are about to get on fire.”
“Aish! Why didn't you take them off, you brat?”
What Jaejoong told him, remained on Yoochun's head all day as in telling him that his hyung was actually right and he DID think a ring on his finger was a big deal after all. So all in all, Yoochun was just afraid to commit himself to something or someone whom he thought about as the most important person in his life. Somehow, it gave him the impression of doing something definitive and not being able to back out if something went wrong.
Part of brain knew that he was looking at it in an extreme way, but the other part kept telling him that it really WAS a big deal.
In the following weeks, Junsu went back to normal and never talked about the rings again and the 'physical' side of their relationship improved also, with Yoochun making sure he was extra careful and did not get carried away. But then again, Junsu was bothered again.
“Did I do something wrong?”
“You know... I do appreciate the fact that you are being sweet and careful but you don't have to be THAT careful. I am not made of glass, Chun.”
“Maybe we should switch positions so you can teach me what you want, how's that?” Yoochun joked and Junsu got up at once, excited.
“Really? Alright, let's do that now!” Yoochun widened his eyes then “Oh... you were kidding...” He said, laying down again, pouting slightly.
“And you weren't... Hey Junsu, are you hungry?” The boy asked, changing the topic “I am starving. Do you want me to get you something?”
“No, thanks.”
Yoochun got up then, leaving the room quickly and Junsu sighing. Ten minutes went by and then fifteen, and then twenty and there was still no sign of Yoochun so Junsu decided to go to the kitchen and see what he was doing; thinking that maybe he had found Changmin there.
The boy got his underwear and his sweatpants on and left the room but as he passed by the living room's door, he heard voices and stopped on his tracks. Peeping through the half-opened door, he saw Yoochun and Jaejoong talking while eating a bowl of ramen each and lauging at something hat Junsu was not able to hear.
Junsu didn't know why, but watching those two like that bothered him.
In the days that followed their 'meeting' in the living room, that became almost like a routine and both of them talked through the night and then through the whole day every time they were left alone.
Junsu started feeling weird at their close relationship. It was not like they just started getting closer to each other because they had ever been best friends but the fact that they had so much to talk about when they were alone, bothered the boy but it also made him angry with himself. He had never been jealous of Yoochun's friends, especially since they were his friends also and shared a house for the sake of being easier while most of them were still in college.
Anyway, Junsu didn't want to start being jealous of them, but damn, he was. Hating himself for thinking like an immature little girl, he thought of discussing his thoughts with Yunho but then again he was closer to Jaejoong than even Yoochun was so talking to him might actually be a bad idea. His last resource would then be Changmin since he was a quiet yet smart 'little' brat; besides whatever he would think of it, he'd tell him straight away so Junsu made up his mind and in the evening he went to his room.
“Hey there,” Junsu greeted, smiling slightly while peeping inside the room where the boy was, laying on the bed while reading a book “are you busy?”
The youngster put down the book and removed his glasses “Not really. What is it?”
“I have the need for an advice” Junsu said, going inside “It's about Yoochun, actually. I think there's something going on with Jaejoong” He said, going directly to the point.
“What? Are you nuts?”
“They are together all the time, they stay up until late in the night, every night, and the way that Yoochun looks at him, I think - ”
Changmin quirked a brow “If you were a girl, I'd ask you if you were having your period”
“If I were a girl, you wouldn't even dare ask me my name because I'd be too hot and you are too shy with girls.”
“Anyway,” The youngest started, avoiding a direct answer to Junsu's provocation “the thing about them being together all the time lately is true, I’ll give you that, but don't start getting ideas on the way Yoochun looks at Jaejoong and what not because that is just your jealous mind working. I don't know why you feel so insecure; after all we ARE talking about Yoochun here.”
Well, Junsu knew that Changmin was wise, despite being the youngest, so he decided to try and stop having all those doubts and just wait to see what would happen next.
Yoochun kept being his cute and caring self with him but also kept his late night talks with Jaejoong in the living room; the only thing that got different was the fact that both of them started getting really uncomfortable every time that Junsu happened to pass by while they talked to each other.
“He IS hiding something after all.” Junsu thought
It was only one month after that Junsu finally got himself a job at a design company. Despite being only a part-time job, it was a start. Throughout that month both him and Yoochun had some misunderstandings and they actually did argue more than usual but then one day, something caught Junsu's attention.
“What is that?” Junsu asked, pointing at Yoochun's hand.
“Huh? Oh, it's a ring.”
Junsu rolled his eyes “I can see that, genius. Is it new? I never saw you with one before.”
“Jaejoong gave it to me.”
“Why? Did you do something for him to give you a ring?”
“No, but you know how Jae is and - ” Suddenly he stopped looking at Junsu's face and seeing that something was wrong “Hey, what is wrong with you, Junsu?” The younger man did not reply. Instead, he turned his back on Yoochun but the man hurried into getting near him again and making him look at his face. “Are you crying again? Why?”
“Because of you!” He said, almost yelling “You are different lately. You only talk to Jaejoong; you interrupt your conversation every time I get near you and now he gives you a ring?”
Yoochun was dumbfounded at Junsu's words “I can't believe you are making a scene over something like this. There is nothing weird about us two and it was me who asked Jae to give me the ring, okay?”
“You said he had given you the ring five seconds ago. Anyway, I don't care if he gave you or if you asked him for it. I don't even care about what you two talk about!”
“Can we talk like normal people, without you assuming things that are not happening?” Yoochun asked, calmly.
“If I am assuming something is because you are giving me reasons for that.”
“I am TRYING to explain things to you because whatever you are thinking, it's not happening. Is it that hard for you to trust me?”
“I am going to sleep in Changmin's room for tonight.”
Yoochun sighed “Suit yourself.”
The younger left the room then, closing the door with a loud bang and crossed the hall, almost knocking Jaejoong down in the process and immediately getting into Changmin's room and making the other jump.
“I really don't mind that you come here, but can you PLEASE knock on the door first?” Changmin asked, hand still on his chest from the scare that Junsu gave him when he barged in.
“Can I sleep here tonight?”
“Why, did you have a bad dream and want to sleep with mama?” The youngster joked but soon enough realized that Junsu was not in the mood for laughing “What happened now?”
“Yoochun is an idiot.” Junsu said and sat on the bed.
Changmin raised an eyebrow “Anything else?”
“He is wearing a ring that Jaejoong gave him,” Changmin raised his eyebrow even more (if possible) “and I don't like the finger he is using to have that ring on. He has other fingers for crying out loud! It looks like a couple's ring!”
“I can't believe this is just about a ring being placed on the wrong finger. Anyway, do you want me to talk with him?”
“No.”
“Alright then. I'll go get a box of tissues because this is going to be a long night.”
~*~
“You ARE kidding, right?” The blonde asked, unable to believe Yoochun's words but the boy nodded his head up and down “Yah, Yoochun! You have to clear this misunderstanding once and for all and why did you put the ring on anyway?”
“I forgot to take it off, okay?”
“You know, Junsu bumped into me awhile ago and did not even look back, so you clear all this mess at once before the kid decides to hit me or something. Besides, tomorrow it's his birthday and he is going to wake up with swollen eyes and one hell of a bad mood”
“Don't worry, I'll cheer him up.” Yoochun ended.
On the next morning Yoochun got up way earlier than usual and headed to the kitchen; he put on Jaejoong's apron and started working: he knew that if there was a thing that could work miracles and put a smile on Junsu's face (amongst other things) was having chocolate cupcakes for breakfast.
Yes, Junsu was that simple-minded.
Besides, it was his birthday and just like little kids, an absolute favorite day on Junsu's calendar so nothing better than a great surprise on his favorite day to cheer the boy up.
After two hours, three dozen cupcakes and a lot of chocolate on his face later, Yoochun finished his task and sighed in relief and right after he gasped in fear when he realized that the kitchen was so dirty that Jaejoong would probably have a heart attack as soon as he’d wake up.
“I'll clean it later on” He said, talking to himself while grinning at the sight of his chocolate creation. He decided to prepare a tray with the cupcakes and a glass of orange juice for Junsu and made fresh coffee for himself. Black, as always.
Yoochun was still preparing everything when Changmin appeared from nowhere only to scare the hell out of him.
“Damn it, Changmin! Why are you up so early? It's Saturday.”
“I smelled cake.” He said, looking around only to immediately find what he was searching. Grinning, he tried to grab one, but Yoochun hit his hand at once, making him wince. “C'mon! I just want one. Please?”
“Take it from the other tray; this one is for Junsu.”
Changmin smiled “Thanks, hyung” The boy said, grabbing two cupcakes but hiding one of them right away “Oh by the way, I think I deserve way more than just one cupcake, you know? Junsu cried for half of the night and hiccupped for the other half so I barely got any sleep. I wonder how one person can have so many tears to cry.”
“Really? Well, you can eat all you want from those. You're the one who is going to be yelled at by Jaejoong and Yunho later on. I am going to wake up my sunshine.”
Changmin contorted his face at his friend's cheesiness “Your 'sunshine' has scary swollen eyes, so be careful. Oh, and DON'T get the sheets dirty!”
“That is why I have a tray, smarty.”
Changmin tsked at Yoochun's innocence “Like I was talking about that...” Yoochun sent him a shocked look “Do you think I can't hear you guys at night? Tsk... teenagers...”
Yoochun decided that his best option was to ignore the youngster's comment and turned his back on him, heading directly to his room, where Junsu was sleeping.
Sighing deeply at the door, the boy finally got inside and fought the darkness, looking for a place to put the tray and grabbed a tip of the curtain, pulling it back so that a few rays of light could get inside the room.
Junsu turned to the other side, covering his head and burying himself deeply within the covers. Yoochuun got near the bed then, hovering over the boy, whispering his name to his ear in order for him to wake up. Junsu hummed, disgruntled and Yoochun tried again.
“Let me sleep, Changmin!”
Yoochun twitched “HEY! It's not Changmin!”
Junsu jumped immediately from the bed as his brain processed that the voice belonged to Yoochun and not Changmin. He sat on the bed, completely covered up and looking at Yoochun, suspiciously.
“Happy birthday, sunshine.” Yoochun said, smiling from ear to ear and immediately kissing the younger, who jumped at the contact
“What are you doing?”
“Congratulating you, of course. Today is your birthday, remember?”
“I don't care about it.” Junsu said, going under the covers again “Besides I'm angry at you.”
“Yes, I know and you are angry because of something I didn't do, but I'll survive. Anyways I have a present for you.”
“Don't wanna.”
“I also have chocolate cupcakes...”
Junsu perked his head suddenly, peeping from inside the cover and spotting the tray on the table
“I can have one, then.”
Yoochun smiled, as he took the tray from the table and put it on the bed at Junsu's reach. “You sure got more pumped up about the cakes than about the present I have for you.”
“Did you ask Jaejoong to make me the cakes so I could forgive you? Do I look that simple to you?”
“Yeah, you do” Yoochun said matter of factly “however, I didn't ask him, I made them myself so that I could impress you, make you happy and possibly get on your pants. Oh, and before you tell me that the cakes taste like the ones that Jaejoong make, I can tell you that I made them according to his recipe; the one that Jae gave me and from which he taught me how to do the cakes so I could get up at 5am and impress you with it. I trust that now you DO believe that I WAS NOT cheating on you but learning how to cook instead!”
Junsu remained silent for a long time until finally opening his mouth again “How was I supposed to know you were learning how to bake cakes for my birthday?”
“Maybe you should have trusted me before jumping into you own distorted conclusions.”
Junsu pouted. He knew Yoochun was right “How about the ring? Was it because you were a good student?”
“AH!” The older man expressed “I'm glad you mention that because it takes us to my next surprise actually. Here you go.” He said, putting a box on the bed, in front of Junsu and hurrying the younger into opening it.
After taking of the ribbon placed around the box and opening it, Junsu's mouth fell instantly on the floor as he saw the ring inside it.
“Close your mouth as try it on to see if it fits”
Junsu nodded, still nervous “A little tight.” He said, while putting it on his right middle finger
“That' because you are wearing it on the wrong finger, moron.” Yoochun sighed at Junsu's lack of sense and took of the ring, only to put it on Junsu's ring finger.
It fit perfectly. “I wonder if you notice something else different also...”
The boy looked around and then at Yoochun, nodding negatively so the eldest flashed his hand in front of his face, showing him his right hand, with a matching ring on the same finger
“Do you get it now?”
“Yoochun...”
“Yes, it's a ring, yes, it matches yours and yes, it means 'I belong to this little punk' ” He said, pointing at Junsu.
“What about Jaejong's ring?”
“I could not ask you for your size, so since I know it's about the same as Jaejoong, I borrowed a ring from him.”
Junsu lowered his head then “I'm sorry, Yoochun.” Yoochun smiled then “I am really sorry”
“Alright, I got it”
“I am sorry that I doubted you, I really am! You are not braking up with me, are you?”
Yoochun laughed out loud “Yah, are you an idiot? Would I wake up at 5 am to bake cupcakes and would I give you a ring if I were to break up with you?”
“Sorry.” He repeated lastly, letting out a sob
“Would you stop crying for goodness sake? Aren't you getting dehydrated yet? Besides your eyes are scaring me from being so swollen.” Yoochun pleaded while whipping Junsu's tears with the tip of his shirt. “Now, Mr. Kim, I am a very poor man because every single penny I had is in your hands, literally. So, since you are working now, you will be in charge of taking care of me and pay for my expenses.” He said, with a mocking smile.
“Thank you, Chun.”
Yoochun lifted his eyebrow “Are you thanking me because I asked for you to take care of my expenses?”
“No, pabo,” He started “I am thanking you for everything. Not just for the ring, but for your patience, for today's surprise and for always being by my side even when I bet you just feel like smacking me.”
“Actually, most of the times I feel like doing other things to you” Yoochun said, getting close and starting to lift his boyfriend's shirt up.
“Did you see Changmin?”
“He's in the kitchen, busy with the cupcakes, why?”
“I think you might want to lock the door then.” Junsu suggested
“Su, he warned me about getting his bed dirty.”
Junsu smirked “Oh really? That's okay then, I always wanted to do it on the floor anyway!"
The End
