The things we do for love.

I haven't been writing much lately! I made a commitment this week to spend the time I would normally be on the computer blessing Mark and the kids instead. So I am only sitting at the computer when I'm nursing the baby and would be sitting down in my chair anyway.
I can update a lot of things with one hand but it takes a little more thought and dexterity to write more than a sentence or two!
I've been working to get the house really clean and organized (always a work in progress), cooking some favourite meals, playing with the kids and chatting with Mark more. I'm not sure he always appreciates the extra chatter but he's too sweet to say anything.
I was really excited because I let him pick all the meals for this week and he picked some really great things! We enjoy a lot of the same foods so it wasn't much of a sacrifice agree to his menu plan. I ran into a bit of a bump in the road today at the Dr's though.
Elianna has always been a really "spity" baby. For a while we thought the cause was just reflux, fairly common in infants I have learned. She was put on medication and that seemed to help for a while. I started to notice that the days that I forgot the medication there didn't seem to be much of a change. So I decided to stop it and see what happened. Just as I suspected, no real change. She has always had really bad days and some good days. I wanted to live in denial but after Monday I couldn't. It's something I'm eating. OH NO. I like to eat. I like the foods I eat! Worst of all I suspect it's dairy. I love dairy things.
But I love my baby more. I also have a fairly large dislike of laundry, and her spitting up so much caused a fairly large increase of it.
This morning my Dr and I had a little chat and he came to the same conclusions I had. We're pretty confident it's something in my diet. It may just be dairy but we want to be sure. This means that all those fantastic meals I am cooking this week will be solely for the enjoyment of my family.
My meal plan this week? Turkey and lamb, baked or boiled potatoes and sweet potatoes (with salt and pepper only), rice and millet as my only grain, cooked green and yellow squash for my vegetable, and for fruit, pears and diluted pear juice. Rice-based beverage drink in place of milk.
Not NEARLY as exciting.
The good news is, I eat this way for 2 weeks or until she stops spitting up so much. If after two weeks she has continued to return the contents of her stomach to us every 10 minutes or so, we go back to the Losec and try again. If she stops spitting up so much before then, every 4 days I can add a new food from a bigger list I have. If she starts spitting up a lot again after re-introducing said food, we've found a culprit and I cut it from my diet for now.
Mark volunteered to do all the cooking this week (because he's amazing), but I really wanted this to be a week of blessing for him so I declined. I can suck it up and know I'm doing what's best for Elie and blessing my family at the same time (remind me of this in a few days when I'm getting really sick of rice and sweet potatoes!)
