So far vacation is great.
I am sitting by a pool updating this.
Joe and I left Thursday around 10. We were planning on leaving about 6am, but did not wake up with the alarm.
We drove straight through just making a few stops to let Olivia out.
We drove through Alabama without going through Georgia since Joe didnt want to get stuck in a lot of construction.
We stopped in Montogomery AL to eat dinner.. We actually had some of the most delicious thai food ever. I also had a glass of dry white wine that had a hint of lemongrass and watermelon.
We also stopped at a rest stop in Florida to let Olivia walk around. At this point it was like 1 or 2 am and there was a worker there.. I was walking around with Olivia and I walked farther from the parking. He came after me and was like "Ma'am I wouldnt go that far back there... There are alligators...... and Bobcats." Interesting...
Joe and I finally made it to his sister's house at 6am. Crashed for awhile.
In the morning I met his sister and her husband.
Friday was pretty relaxing.
We hung around the house for most of the day.
We went to get food at Tijuana Flats a semi-fast food Mexican place with all different kinds of hot sauce. Then we walked over to a wine store called Cork and Olive and did a bit of wine tasting. 3 reds and 3 whites. I guess they do this every Friday and you can normally go in and taste a few wines. The owners seemed pretty awesome and if you open and bottle and dont like it you can bring it back for store credit. That is pretty awesome and a great way to figure out what you like. Joe bought a bottle of white that they suggested... apparently red wine drinkers often like it, so we figured that it would appeal to both of us.
After that we drove around for a really long time. Drove down by the ocean and everything.
Then came home, Joe and I watched some tv and then fell asleep.
Yesterday we woke up around 12 again. Had our coffee and then went to a place called Mimi's. The waitress was super nice and they have huge tasty muffins. I had a crab, sweet corn, and asparagus quiche. Super tasty. Then we went by the house to get our swimming stuff and drove out to Honeymooner's island. We were out there from about 4 to 8:30. Swam a bunch, flew a kite, Joe and I got into a sand fight in which we had sand all over our bodies. It was pretty funny. We watch the sunset and then left.
We then went to go find food. We ended up eating at this place called Zen. I had sushi and it was delicious. One was a Hawaiian roll.. pineaple, shrimp, cream cheese, and some other stuff. Then I had one of their specials that had conch and some stuff that escapes me right now. I also had a raspberry mojito. Then Joe and I finished up with a little Coldstone for dessert.
I think some of the highlight for both Joe and I on this trip is the food. Carbondale has such awful food.. There are very few choices for good food there. Now we are having such good food. We both kind of love to eat and it is awesome because we have almost identical taste in food. The biggest difference is that occasionally I will eat fish and chicken and Joe is a strict vegetarian.
I am not sure what we are going to do today. There was talk about going to the Zoo earlier. Which would be fun. I guess the Tampa zoo does Manatee rescues, so they have a ton. I want to go on a boat and see whales too. We have to figure out where to do that. Monday we are going to the Sunset Champaign Pirate Ship Cruise. Thank you Nan for suggesting that!
So far this has been a great trip! And we still have like a whole week left! I cant imagine it being bad though.
Sometime while I am down here I should call my great aunt and meet up with her. It would just be rude not to. I am sad that Scott isnt in Florida to visit. He was going to Springfield just as we were coming here.. boo.
Oh well. I am done talking about my trip. I am probably going to update every few days just so I have a record of what we did and what happened.
