Jon looked at Ami as she actually put into words one of those little ideas that was eating at the back of his head. Loki was a screwup, and as good as Thor thought he was, maybe something got tripped up? His jaw shifted slightly, his lips pressed together as he nodded in quiet acknowledgement that it wasn't out of the question, at least in his mind

But, Sam had no interest in seeing the clone naked. So, she gave a simple nod to Carson. "Get the General," she echoed.
"Oh, he's going to be thrilled..."
"Ye-ah." Sam chuckled.
"Good luck with that."
"Eh. Doctor's orders." She flashed a somewhat smug, or perhaps cocky, grin and gave a jaunty salute. "Not a problem." Bravado at it's finest.
With that, however -- before Jon had time to remove more than just his shirt, she turned and headed from the exam room, off to find the man who would soon be a decidedly grumpy General.
~ Oh, yeah... I'm gonna hear about this one for a loooong time to come...~
A generous portion of Ami's discomfort disapated as Jon undressed and slipped into the hospital gown without a single request -- spoken or implied -- that she leave. It sent a quietly clear statement about their relationship and her reason for being there. Jon's non-chalance toward that admission, however understated, surprised her though Ami tried hard not to allow it to show on her face

As Mary gave the look when she handed him the hospital gown, Carson chuckled softly, "Dinna test her, she will wrestle ye into it. The last guy went down in under 30 seconds. She's a wily one." Of course that earned him a look from Mary, but Carson was used to those

Jon smiled tightly at Sam as she began to leave, giving her a mock salute in return.. the slightly limp, not-really-saluting type. He didn't envy her, going into the lion's den like that. Couldn't the doc have sent a nurse? Or a lackey? Carter was going to get the brunt of it, he was pretty sure; well, okay.. maybe not. After years of working together, it was reasonably easy to work out the best approach, and Jack was nothing if not a little predictable-- at least to his own people, that is

"I'm not going anywhere for a bit. I've a briefing later this afternoon, but until then, you're rather stuck with me," Ami informed him, moving aside so that the nurse could place the IV shunt. She repressed a shudder at the chilling feeling that washed over her as she watched. No one was panicked (yet), but setting the shunt set the stage to be prepared for something worse. It was good to be prepared but she truly didn't like it.
"You'll have to work harder than this to get rid of me," Ami continued, settling on Jon's other side. She ran a hand along the scraggly, patchy overgrown beard. "Though I'm not going to kiss you 'til after you've shaved. Scratchy."

Carson did notice the response to the shunt from both Ami and Jon, though when he spoke next it was more to Ami, "We're gonna run a few tests now, and over the course of the day run some of the same tests over again to make certain that everything continues within normal parameters." Meaning he's not degrading before their eyes, but Carson doesn't say that, "This way we dinna have to stick the lad every time

Jon looked to Ami as she stroked the growth there, and he smiled a little lopsidedly, "I was thinking about keeping it. Maybe clip it back a little--" He looked at her, and considered her proclamation, and sighed theatrically, "Fine... it's going. Just when I got it past the 'itchy' stage for me."
"Continues within normal parameters..." Jon paused and he stared at the medico, "What's that supposed to mean?" He whistled and waved a hand to get Carson's attention, "Yo... not a lad.. I know, I might look like one, but work with me here

Amused by Jon's antics, Ami said nothing at his pretense of keeping any of the haphazard facial growth. Her knitting eyebrows and drawn mouth must have been enough of an answer because he eventually gave up convincing her. The kiss itself came as a surprise, though not an unwelcome one, even if it shouldn't have been surprising. Ami might have guessed that Jon wasn't going to leave her declaration unchallenged, and when his mouth found hers, Ami responded automatically

Well, that answered that question.. will... of jello. The finish of the kiss was met with a smirk, though the retaliation did cause him to jump slightly and grab quickly back, checking for that towel that he first thought she had before twisting around and realizing that it was simply her hand. "Oh, hey... not fair.." With his hand in the back, he tugged at opened gown and mumbled, "No one to watch my six." He glanced back, a theatrically meaningful look given, and he took to his shaving kit

Carson wouldn't take offense at that, but then he hates going offworld. It's bloody unnatural. Will he go if he's needed? Yes, but he's really glad that Dr. Whiteeagle volunteered so hopefully he doesn't have to... ever
( ... )
"Of course I did," Ami rejoined Jon on the bed and took his non-shunted hand. She rested her head on his shoulder, "I do my homework. I don't want to show up at the briefing unprepared and I certainly don't want to go off-world unprepared. That's asking for trouble."
The remark toward scientists earned him a raised eyebrow, and a dry, "None taken. But I am keeping score." Before he could give a retalitory response, Ami swooped in and kissed him into silence. She grinned when they broke apart, "Much better without the beard."
Unfortunately, that was when the Scotsman returned. Ami sat quietly while he spoke to Jon, and though she sensed that Jon didn't clue in immediately on the doctor's carefully couched words, Ami didTheir need for discretion the past month meant that they were limited to showing affection to when they were alone, however Jon's invitation to her and his unspoken message to everyone by including her gave Ami a bit more comfort and ease to take advantage of the opportunity to be affectionate. Not much, a touch here

"Always hated pre-mission reports. Never had the really good stuff in there, and it was always a surprise," Jon deadpanned. Still, the information was better than going in blind. Way too much 'bad stuff' happened, and with a file, at least they had some sense of how difficult it could possibly be. Usually, though, it was worse

Carson held up a hand, "If Thor didna do things properly then I will have t' work t' fix them and it will be a time before ye leave the clinic. Once I start looking at the tests I will know something more. No matter what ye will not be going anywhere near the gate for some time. Not until I have an answer

Dr. Beckett was calm, but serious and it was the sort of seriousness that was intended to be taken note of.
The doctor may have been calm, but Jon was anything but. Ami only sensed the faint tensing of his muscles because she sat so close to him, but it didn't take any amount of empathy to hear the low traces of ire in his voice when he spoke, his mannerisms and tone an exact duplicate of Jack O'Neill's. Some might have found it disconcerting, but Ami had a month resolving herself to the logical symmetries and it got easier every day.
She didn't focus on his ire, instead sensing the ripples of concern beneath the surface. Ripples that grew into waves with each passing breath and heartbeat. Jon was annoyed and angry yes, but more importantly he was worried.
"Then, if I'm actually alive tomorrow, I damn will go offworld and find the bastard and--"Fortunately, Dr. Beckett cut in, speaking over Ami's low but fierce, "Don't even joke about that." It wasn't to be taken lightly, and dammit, she wasn't going to let him go or give him up

Jon barked a stacatto laugh, though it was far from amused. His head ducked forward a little, dark eyes on the doctor, "What, you can actually fix the problem... if it was an Ass-gard screw up." His expression was more than a little dubious, and he waved his 'free' hand, "Sorry, doc... but when did we get that good?" While Jack certainly wasn't out of the loop, Jon wasn't all that privvy to that same information
