Jack interjected between Ami's words to Darien and Vivian, "Most people can learn to shield their thoughts. A sensitive like Ami uses shielding to keep the 'noise' of the world out. Each of you can learn to build walls to keep someone or something that would try to actively read your thoughts out of them."
He let Ami finish speaking after that, and remained quiet while Ron spoke. Jack was tempted to tell him that, at least in the future he'd seen, humans did eventually develop natural psychic abilities. Instead Jack followed Ron's words with his own information from Torchwood, "I've seen most of Ami's natural abilities approximated with technology -- empathy, telepathy, and teleportation. While I haven't seen telekinesis replicated I imagine it's possible."
Jack faltered as he considered whether or not to tell the teams his Vortex Manipulator once worked as a teleportation device. It had burned out when he bounced from 200,100 to 1869, and the Doctor had deactivated its teleportation function twice since he initially repaired it. Right now it didn't work as a teleporter, but it had before and it might be possible to get it working again. Jack took a deep breath. These people had already taken risks for him, he wasn't ready to share what he was with them, but he could give them something. Jack drew their attention to his Vortex Manipulator, "The teleportation function for this device isn't working, but it has one."
Darien snuck a sidelong glance at his unusually quiet friend. Hobbes looked... pensive. Never a good sign. How ironic that Ami of all people had the ability to see what was churning under Bobby's shiny pate.
Harkness tapped the ginormous watch on his wrist. "The teleportation function for this device isn't working, but it has one."
"The hell?" Darien interjected. Semi-seriously he continued, "I want some tech! I mean, besides the zat here, which is pretty sweet. And I didn't ask for the quicksilver gland." He faced Jack, then Boone. "You've got a busted teleportation wristwatch. You've got that gold healing device." Darien's gaze turned to Ami. "And you--" The woman flinched, of all things. "Whoa, no, it's okay. I mean, you've got everything hard-wired. Moving stuff just by thinking about it? Damn! And how does the teleportation work? You just think, 'Gee, I'd like to be in the hot springs near the mines," and poof?"
Ami shifted uncomfortably under Darien's scrutiny and enthusiastic inquiries. Talking about this was hard, and his eager enthusiasm managed to be both calming -- (no lynch mobs here tonight) -- and embarrassing. She really wasn't anything special.
Still, Ami managed a nod, "Something of the sort. If I've been there and seen it, I can teleport there."
Ami's clarification made Bobby blink. That was pretty frikkin' amazing.
"Sweet!" Darien enthused.
The idgit had somehow missed Ami's discomfort, so Bobby stepped in. "Fawkesie, take it down a notch, eh? What are you, in kindergarten?"
That earned Bobby his partner's patented withering look. "Buzzkill."
Bobby turned to Ami. "So you just need t'have been there and seen the place." He frowned thoughtfully for a moment. "Is there a limit as to how far you can go? I mean, do you even need the stargates?"

Jack Smiled when Darien burst out with, "The hell?"
He listened to him complain about the team captains having tech besides zats. Jack gave a small shake of his head when Darien describe his Vortex Manipulator as a "busted teleportation wristwatch." He told him after he addressed Boone, "Command prerogative to horde the tech."
Jack watched as Darien asked how Ami's ability to teleport worked, waiting until after she'd given her answer before adding anything of his own, "Sounds like you need to collect coordinates first hand and you generate your own stabilization. I know a variety of coordinates for this thing, but right now the stabilization is busted. It's no good without stabilization. Fortunately it has other uses. That's what I keep it around for."
"And this" Ron proffered the healing device "only heals to a small degree. It lets us get home relatively whole, so that the doctors can do the rest for you."
He paused "and it only works if you are Tok'ra or Goa'uld, or have the right..." he hesitated "blood chemistry" Lan finished for him.
