Jade looked off into the distance for a moment, towards the Stargate, but everything still looked calm. SG-1 were far too professional to make a huge fuss, she hoped. They'd want to talk to Ami, and then they'd want to talk to Jade again, she was sure.
There would be plenty of explaining to do. She felt quite foolish, really, but at least Jason wasn't gibbering.
"It's just something I can do," she said. "I found out when I was a kid." No need to go into the details; that would just lead to more questions. "Not something I'd usually demonstrate of course. I wasn't expecting to find anybody in my tent. In fact... well. It was a bit of a stupid thing to do in the first place." She smiled at Jason. "I'd appreciate it if you didn't spread it around. It causes all sorts of awkward questions. The people in charge here are likely to be quite reasonable about it, they've seen a lot of strange things already, but back on Earth... normal people don't like it. They get jealous, or afraid, or they want to study it. Whether people like me want them to or not. You know how they show it in comics, or in films. There are always people who want to capture the mutants, or the witches, or whatever they are. Well it's like that in real life too."
"Yeah, I guess so..." He looked down at his hand, still avoiding her eyes as he tried to work this out. He'd heard rumours of something like this, but never actually SEEN it with his own eyes. "I'm sorry that I spilled that coffee... it was real coffee, too!" He looked up with a tiny smile.
He wouldn't question her, unless she wanted to say more and he hoped that his look was enough to reassure her of his silence. "I thought you'd appreciate a home comfort, after last night."
Jade took Jason's hand out of the water and looked at it.
"That should be fine now," she said. "And don't worry. I'm still human." She smiled. "As it happens, I met a woman called Cassandra and she gave me some coffee and a doughnut. Air Force coffee, too. I got quite a taste for it working at the SGC."
"Cassie is great" said Jason as he gingerly wiped at the reddened hand. "She knows how to make people comfortable and that's a fantastic quality..."
He looked up at Jade, relaxing at least a little "I was going to offer to give you a tour of Gatetown, but I don't know if you'd want to spend time with a lowly shrink!" he managed a wink and a little grin. "Offer's open, if you want..."
"I'd be delighted," she said. "I've not seen very much yet, just this place and what's between here and the Stargate. I'd particularly like to see where the science is done. I'm itching to get my teeth into some physics again; not much to do on Tau although I was working on a few theories of my own there." She wondered if her notes had survived; if only she hadn't panicked and had taken them with her, but she hadn't dared teleport back after her near-instinctive flight from the attack.

OOC: Make a new thread for the tour I think
