Question about uncensored DVD

Oct 05, 2011 10:51

Hi, everyone ! I just wanted to check on something with fellow fans..

The only way to have an uncensored version of the movie (aside from the old VHS) is if you have the blu-ray disc and a way to play it, right ? No version of the DVD is uncensored ?

Thanks for any help ! :D

Oh, it's my pleasure to help, trust me! This film is very near and dear to my heart. I grew up with it, have loved it for as long as I can remember, so anything I can do to help a fellow fan of it is a joy! :D The link you posted is the earlier version, yes! I wouldn't pay much attention to the reviews on Amazon.com; I've generally found that people comment on items they shouldn't be, or simply post the same comment on all of them without concern for version. Case in point: on the old release version from 2004 you've linked to here, one comment is about the blu-ray release, not even the DVD in question! So you can only trust those reviews to a certain extent. As I said, though, I own both DVD releases, so I can vouch for the 2004 version being uncut, but full-frame only. The later release was widescreen, but censored. The blu-ray, if the reviews are correct (and I desperately hope they are), has both widescreen AND uncensored audio. I have been waiting for that release! :D In any case though, as far as the older DVD releases go, if you can tolerate full-frame, the 2004 release (that you linked to) is worth it if for no other reason than the fact it's uncensored. I pop that one in from time to time because I think if Schmendrick is going to swear, he should! XD I absolutely hate hearing gaps where they censored the audio... It drives me nuts! :P Anyway, I hope that helps you! :D
