Kushiel's Mercy - Jacqueline Carey

Yes, I know, more book crack, but it's totally allowed. And also quite fun. This sees the final stage in Imriel's quest to marry his beloved, where divine reconciliation of things that were previously broken becomes a major and important theme, as does the shifting of what one knows and does not know to be truth. There's some nice incorporation of things from earlier books and the hero's history, without getting overly repetitive or difficult about it. I particularly liked the material about one's inner self always knowing if something wasn't quite right, even if you can't quite put a finger on what the problem is. Also, a tad more kink crept back into this, but not in a gratuitous sort of way (if that makes any sort of sense!). I will go to the third and final trilogy eventually, but I think I'm going to wait a bit and read some other stuff first!
