FaceBook: the ecstasy and the agony

Feb 18, 2011 17:52

You guys, I'm kind of worried that I'm addicted to FaceBook. The constant updated feed of information about people that I like is very easy to get used to. It's just so easy to share stuff on there, and not have to have a whole conversation or write a long blog--I can just click "like" on something and move on. Twitter is kind of like that, too, only not quite as difficult for me to get away from. SO, I think I'm going to try for a FaceBook-limited weekend this weekend. I am going to check FaceBook no more than once every 4 hours. So I'm going to close it at 6:00, check it once before bed at 10 p.m. and then only check it every 4 hours tomorrow. This might sound like I'm still checking FB a lot, but right now I have it up in a tab constantly. If I'm not in front of a computer, I'm compulsively checking FB on my phone. But this is silly, and I do not need to know what everyone else is doing to that extent. Nor do I need to over-share on the internet. So, I am resolved. And I'm writing it down in LJ. If I fail, I might need to check into FaceBook rehab. :o)

With all of the time I'm going to save not reading FaceBook, I think I'm going to be productive this weekend. Here is a list of things I would like to accomplish:

-Make-up horseback riding lesson on Saturday
-Finish washing, folding, and putting away ALL laundry
-Finish washing and putting away ALL dishes
-Clean master bathroom
-Wash car and clean out inside

That is my plan for the weekend.
