Bob Loblaw (tl;dr)

I need to post on here more often. There have been quite a few times this weekend when I've felt like I've run out of things to read on the internet, and those are the times I need to update! Sadly, I don't have much of interest to report. But I really want to get back into the habit of updating my journal more regularly. I can't believe I've only updated 7 times this month. :o/

I got quite a bit done at home this weekend. I saw that episode of Hoarders the other day and it really squicked me out and made me want to clean and declutter. I made some progress in the room that's still full of boxes, and I got all of the dirty laundry washed. Rick got all of the dishes done except one last load that we'll put in before bed tonight. (We've had a lot more dishes lately since we've been cooking at home about 80% of the time.) I even found my lost library book! I think I will like our new house quite a bit better once we finally get everything in its place.

I am reading a book that I am enjoying quite a bit. It's called The Magicians by Lev Grossman. I think this review statement from Amazon sums it up best: "Mixing the magic of beloved children's fantasy classics (from Narnia and Oz to Harry Potter and Earthsea) with the sex, excess, angst, and anticlimax of life in college and beyond, Lev Grossman's Magicians reimagines modern-day fantasy for grownups." I'm only about halfway through, but so far I like it a lot. In fact, it could be longer for me--there are things he's glossing over that I'd like to read more about.

This week at work I'm going to be pretty slammed--tomorrow morning is timecards and then I'll spend most of the day preparing for my evening meeting. Oh, and I have to call the cops to get someone banned over an incident this weekend. I have another evening meeting on Wednesday, where I may potentially be elected to the prestigious office of vice president. Also, I really have some shit I need to get together before I leave next week. It's so nice to have so much work to do that the days just fly by. (Yes, I'm still loving my job.)

I am getting super excited about Dragon*Con. Rick and I looked through some of the schedules today (there are 35 tracks and the "official" summary schedule isn't out, so you currently have to visit each website individually). We picked out 52 different programs that one or the other of us is interested in attending. o_O NO way that we're going to make even half of those, but we'll be sure to pick 1 or 2 things a day that are "not to miss" and then see how the rest goes. I also need to build in some time for people watching and wandering around in costume and eating and the Whedon scavenger hunt...god, it's going to be hectic. :o) We're planning to leave Wednesday after work and drive to St. Louis, then drive the rest of the way on Thursday. The lovely cutest_sandgirl has offered to let us crash with her Thursday night (the original plan, back in December, was Friday - Monday, so those were the days I foolishly booked for). Then we'll party hard from Friday - Monday. We'll probably leave Atlanta late Monday afternoon, maybe try to make it to Nashville or so that night, and then finish the drive up on Tuesday. I wish we could take another day off to recover, but alas. Maybe next year.

Okay, I didn't realize this would be nearly so long, but I'm so excited (OMG Dragon*Con!), so maybe it will make up for some of my lack of posting earlier in the month. :oD
