One step forward, four steps back.

There is no reason for me to put this behind a cut. The amount of shipping in this show makes me nauseous. I am so damn tired of the UST that I've started tuning out any time Sarah and Mike are on the screen together. So most of the conversation between Zoe and Billy at the beginning, I have no idea of. But I guess there is the rest of the episode to think about. Mike did drop Sarah on her ass, which was fantastic. But Doctor Graiman has already gotten prophetic - this is going to blow up in their faces. Yep, I do believe that. I think, in a way, it already has.

There's a new kind of cameraderie between Billy and Zoe. They've reached some kind of agreement, and that agreement is to spy on Mike. I can get behind that. Billy, however, sucks at innuendo. Then again, he sucks at social contact in general. He and Zoe trying to set Mike and Sarah up is actually kinda cute. It's nice to see them getting along as it is. Popcorn in Kitt's cabin - though I'm not fond of Billy/Zoe, it's at least better done than Sarah/Mike.

The conversation between Torres and Graiman was interesting. I like Graiman's take on it. They are, technically, the ones in the car blowing things up, but the difference in opinion between them... I like how that works. I look forward to more interactions like that before they can both of them. Or fridge both of them, however things may go.

They drive a Super Bee - I have photos of a purple Super Bee. But I think I see something here. A yellow Super Bee and a black Mustang on an industrial lot. Now what was that blockbuster movie that featured a yellow Bee versus a black 'Stang...? Gee, I could've sworn there was something.

I can't pussyfoot around it anymore. I can't say much about this plot. I wish I could. I wish I could say that I liked this plot - unfortunately, that isn't going to happen, either. This entire episode only made me think that everyone who works at the SSC is dumb. There was barely enough setup to see why the 'badguys' were bad, and while I can certainly appreciate wanting to keep Kitt and the SSC secret, I think they've done enough damage to that themselves. Kitt transforming into a truck in the middle of the street, turboboosting needlessly in the middle of a parking lot, etcetera. I live on the internet enough to know that the only people who take these reports of secret government BS are people like my stepfather.

The SSC has a 'congressional sugardaddy' who apparently can walk into the SSC anytime he wants. I really wonder if anybody who works there even knows what secrecy means. The entire teaming up with the government sits badly with me. I can understand, in a way, why they did it, but that doesn't mean I have to like it.

I also think that this new Kitt needs a lot of development. He was doing so good last week, only to revert back to a brick wall this week. He has to be ordered to do everything. He gets a few plans of his own, some of which I even like, but having to be ordered to check things? God. And add to that his blowing the door open with a laser... I shouldn't ask what ever happened to subtlety. This damn show doesn't understand subtlety. What did Kitt do this week that I did like? Well, let's see. He parked over a bomb. He smoked some badguys (which, though it was anticlimactic, it was effective). And he drove himself to the quasi-rescue.

This ep was decent for Mike, though. Sure, he got shot and had to have buckshot pulled out of his arm, but it gave him an excuse to be his old, angry self. When the Congressman's daughter clung to him, he just stood there. His lack of compassion for her made him seem at least somewhat smart - smarter than the rest of the people at the SSC anyway. Even though I do think he should've shot the girl. I would've shot the girl. They did keep Mike realistically bleeding through the bandages Sarah put on him, even if she did crack a stupid playing-doctor joke while doing so. His cooperation with Kitt to take out the badguys' sedan was well-done. I certainly do appreciate that. But the girl telling him he doesn't even know who he works for... that's similar to the fake Zoe from last time. If this is going to become the new norm, as it used to be people knowing about Mike's past, they'd at least better do something with it.

I keep trying to be optimistic, but right when they get an upswing, they smack it down again. Also? I used to have that screensaver. It was an AOL-distributed piece of crap that came from the Matrix era. Giant step back there, SSC.
