Background:
I'm from a small, crazy backwards part of Michigan in which most everybody does 2 years of community college and then gets married, has a kid, and becomes their parents.
The best time to listen to country music is between the hours of midnight and 6 am.
I'm writing a paper, I've been up all night, but this made my day.
At 4 am the country radio station at home played a song called "If you're going through Hell" and dedicated it to "all the kids from Muskegon who are off at 'real' colleges, and taking exams" THEN....they proceeded to get many calls from angry community college kids, who were outraged at the insinuation that they do not attend REAL college. And that DJ stuck by his origional statement, and made snarky comments back, and quote actual MCC drop out rates to the caller. My favorite was still... "You're done with school, and you live with your parents, what the hell are you doing awake?!"
I have nothing against Community College, for a lot of people it's the best option. I do have problems with people who compare their CC education to my SU education, because "you go to a state school, it's like the same thing, right?" No. I don't sleep, I stress all the time, and next time you insinuate that I attend a community college, I'll be cutting your throat.
Have a Nice Day!!
Oh and here's the lyrics to that song.
If You're Going Through Hell -Rodney Atkins
Well you know those times
When you feel like there's a sign there on your back
Says I don't mind if ya kick me
Seems like everybody has
Things go from bad to worse
You'd think they can't get worse than that
And then they do
You step off the straight and narrow
And you don't know where you are
Use the needle of your compass
To sew up your broken heart
Ask directions from a genie
In a bottle of Jim Beam
And she lies to you
That's when you learn the truth
If you're going through hell
Keep on going, don't slow down
If you're scared, don't show it
You might get out
Before the devil even knows you're there
Well I been deep down in that darkness
I been down to my last match
Felt a hundred different demons
Breathing fire down my back
And I knew that if I stumbled
I'd fall right into the trap that they were laying, yeah
But the good news
Is there's angels everywhere out on the street
Holding out a hand to pull you back up on your feet
The one's that you've been dragginig for so long
You're on your knees
You maight as well be praying
Guess what I'm saying
If your going through hell
Keep on going, don't slow down
If you're scared don't show it
You might get out
Before the devil even knows you're there
