Don't read too much into this, but...

I don't really read anymore. What's that about?

I say this because I'm looking at my bookshelf and saying to myself "Hmmm... I should read that again. And that."

I watch plenty of TV/Movies, but I don't read. I kind of went off it in uni, because I had to read so much wanky crap. After all that academic reading, I was never in the mood to read more.

Don't know why I don't read NOW, though. Perhaps it requires more mental energy than I have. I am kinda half-asleep most of the time!

Perhaps I should make reading a goal. Though, I do have several goals already. I'm finding the LJ goal, for example, rather challenging. Especially when I'm trying not to rant about my feelings or otherwise bore my flist to tears.

Perhaps I ought to start small. Short stories or something. I have several books of fairytales on that there shelf above the TV. I'm a big lover of fairy tales. Or, I could try and find that big book of them my Grandmother has. I adored it as a child (I think she once said she's actually willed it to me). The nostalgia trip might be fun, and of course, stuff written for children is a little less taxing on my poor old sleepy brain. Probably, launching straight into Dostoevsky is not the way to go here.

My favourite fairy-tale (gotta love that segue) was always "Little Ida's Flowers". Does anyone know it? blindmouse? You probably do. I also love The Little Mermaid (and I loved the movie! I have to buy that!) There's a Japanese fairy tale about a mirror that I love too.

And, to finish up by being slightly off-topic, one of my absolute favourite movies when I was little was the 1993 version of The Secret Garden. I've been looking everywhere for a DVD copy, but I just can't find one!!! Does anyone know where I might get a copy?

depression!, books!, sick!kayt!
