This is the beginning of what I hope will be a 4-part post.
Christmas - Part I takes place at my parents house on Christmas Eve (right now).
Part II will take place tomorrow morning here at the folks' house, having breakfast, opening presents, etc.
Part III will be at Steven's parents' house as we exchange gifts.
Part IV will be back at my apartment as Steven and I exchange gifts with each other.
And so, Part I:
This afternoon, we came to my parents' house in separate cars. Erika was finishing up her costume for the New Year's Eve karaoke party (costume party, obviously). We had a lovely dinner of roast beef, potatoes, carrots and green beans casarole, then went to the birthday party of an old family friend of ours. We usually go every year and celebrate his birthday (the 24th) then go home and do our own Christmas. We get to open one gift, then go to bed or whatever.
This year, we put aside this time for steven and my parents to exchange gifts. Steven gave my mom a giftcard for Coldwater Creek, my dad got a gift card for Harbor Freight Tools, and my sister got Pirates of the Carribean #3 and from Steven. His mom got my parents a gift set of Bailey's Irish Cream.
My dad got steven an LED flashlight for the car, my mom made him (and me) a pair of pajama pants made from a pirate-themed fabric, and a shell gift card from my parents together.
My dad made my sister a shirt (print out iron on transfer) that says "Do the Math" and has her school's logo on it. (My sister is a math teacher, for those of you who don't know.) I gave my mom the Patrick Stewart version of A Christmas Carol on DVD. We love ol' Pat from back in the Star Trek days and she never got to see this particular remake while it was on TV.
We watched it together, then Steven went back to his parents' house.
It's officially Christmas Day now, but Part II will have to wait, since we haven't slept yet.
Merry Christmas to all, and to all to be continued....
