Hey everyone, since the voting is underway, We thought now would be a good time to start letting you know about a few changes we are making to the community. We figured we would get this information to you now, so that if there are any questions or concerns they could be addressed before the next round.

Well what an interesting thing to wake up to!

First off, I completely understand where everyone is coming from. It is hard to feel justified in nominating yourself. However if I phrased it as submitting yourself into the running, would that have sounded better?

Here are the qualms that we came across when running the nominations last time.

People switching their sample threads, people withdrawing their nominations do to the "pressure" that having to "compete" with their peers, along with voter bias and other things that are always in these sort of communities.

Here is what we knew we wanted.

1 - Anonymous Samples
2 - More categories filled with more than two entrants.
3 - Overall fairness for people getting chosen.

Here is why those things were important to us.

1 - We didn't want your vote to be based on who plays the character, what game they are in, or who they RP with.
2 - Having two people commpete head to head is grueling, and we didn't want that anymore, the only way to do that is to make sure that AS MANY characters are nominated as possible, the only way to do that is to ask you the player.. who you play.
3 - I personally hated seeing some amazing players wish to have their nominations withdrawn, so I wanted to avoid people feeling that they had to withdraw themselves. I also wanted to avoid the hurt feeling when you aren't nominated.

So we brainstormed a lot. I mean A LOT! Finally in the end we picked what was in all fairness easiest for us. We wanted people to nominate eachother, but if we did that, then the anonymous thing would be a bust. We wanted people to be supportive of each other, so we made Josscar_noms. We wanted to pick samples vs. posts, but didn't want to have to continually check back to see if a newer better post was given for a character... because if you think you did a lot of reading just to vote this time? Can you imagine what we would have to read just to get the nominees posted?

A few things have occurred since I posted this post last night. Few people have emailed us stating they don't feel comfortable nomming themselves. For them I suggest this.

Post your characters to Josscar Noms, if anyone gives you support (PLEASE PEOPLE SUPPORT EACH OTHER... END THE DRAMA) then feel okay nominating yourself.

Or.. consider it entering a contest you want to win.. pretend it is for a cruise or a Plasma TV... don't feel bad that you are nominating yourself... everyone else is... so why shouldn't you?
