Who: Niou and Fuji.
What: A serious talk, waffles, rum and...what was that?
When: A little after Fuji's last journal entry and after the last log with Ryoga
Where: Niou/Yagyuu's room, the kitchen
Warnings: PG, quite long....PART ONE

Fuji walked down the corridor, heading for Niou's room. He'd gone back to his room and swapped Saeki's miniskirt for an ordinary pair of jeans, but still wore only the plain baggy t-shirt over the top. Not that he really cared. Fingering the ends of his now much shorter hair he reached up to tap quietly on Niou's door, hoping the other was in and not already occupied.

Niou though he had heard something rather faint. It had been quite quiet so he, he thought he could hear a pin drop. Regardless, the trickster went to investigate. As he opened the door to leave Yagyuu's room, he was quite pleased to see Fuji waiting at his door. "Well if it isn't my dearest Syuusuke~ it has been far too long." He said in his normal playful manner.

Fuji smiled, relieved to see the other boy, and especially to see him in such a good mood. "Saa, are you busy?" he asked, pushing his hair out of his eyes.

"Always got time for you. And I owe you some tea, come on in for a moment though. Hiroshi won't mind." Niou assumed. His boyfriend’s room was just much cleaner than his own since it was mainly just used for storage at this point.

Fuji nodded, slipping inside and then looking amused, "Saa... this is too tidy for your room, Niou..." he teased, perching on the nearest chair, "How is Yagyuu anyway? Much happier now you're back no doubt..."

"I'd certainly say so." He said with a hint of innuendo to his voice. "He's quite good thank you, up to his usual Hiroshings." Niou said pleasantly, flopping on the edge of Yagyuu's bed pleasantly. "...and yeah, far to tidy~ He's like my little maid, though if only I could get him to wear the costume..." He went on, smiling playfully still.

Fuji chuckled, "I'm sure you'll persuade him sooner or later; you mostly seem to get your way in the end." he pointed out, grinning. "Saa... speaking of maids," he picked up a cup off of the desk and waggled it at Niou, "Where's the tea?"

"Aah, let's get the prepared." Niou said as he hopped off of his bed, padding toward the door. "Hmm~ I should have you know my cooking skills have improved greatly since we've last spoken! I've made waffles, and a cake and the like, all tasting like they should." Niou rambled on contentedly.

"My word, wonders will never cease," said Fuji, only slightly mocking, "Yagyuu's turning you into his wife after all." He stood, wandering after Niou, "still, I suppose someone had to domesticate you in the end," he grinned.

"Don't you be so sure! I've still got me ~animalistic~ nature." Niou responded grinning pleasant. "It's true!" He went on; his grin turning a little more wicked. "The night we returned we of course had sex, and I apparently got a little too much for poor Hiroshi and he totally blacked out." Niou went smirking smugly.

Fuji fought the urge to roll his eyes, "Saa...are you sure he didn't just fall asleep?" he said, winding the other boy up. He nudged him with one elbow as they walked, "Anyway, talking of being too much for someone, guess whose turned up here now?"

"I did at first, but he was blindfolded and in handcuffs so I ruled that out rather quickly." Niou said, casually running a hand as he continued talk. "Ah, I think a few turned up in the time I was missing. But I noticed a certain mini-Fuji appeared~" Niou stated simply.

Fuji chuckled, pushing open the door to the kitchen, "Yes, Yuuta's here." he said, "I went to see him..."

"That must be hard on you, though at least you can keep a close eye on him." Niou said softly, as he walked into the kitchen, moving set up the water to boil. "Ah, what are you in the mood for anyways?" Niou asked, looking to the shorter boy.

"Anything’s fine," answered Fuji, "Surprise me." he seated himself at the table, toying with the hem of his t-shirt, "It's...a little difficult having him here," he admitted, "I keep worrying something will happen to him."

Niou nodded simply as he carefully worked on the tea. "Yeah. Though at least you can see him here." Niou offered, leaning against the counter. "And he was probably happy to find his brother after he had gone missing for months." Niou continued, but doubted he was really doing any good at making the boy feel better. As a matter of fact, he was pretty sure that he was failing.

"Oh I don't know about happy," said Fuji, cheering a little, ironically "I got accused of being 'gross' at least four times, and called 'baka aniki' every other sentence. Still, I suppose that's as good as 'I love you' as far as he's concerned." He rested his chin on his hands, "It was just unexpected, him being here, especially right after your capture, and finding the labyrinth and all that with

Taka, it just threw me for a loop."

Niou smiled a bit "Your brother sounds adorable." He said with a small smile, busying himself with readying the tea. "How was the labyrinth, by the way? I was going to come search with you but Hiroshi and I were still rehabilitating." He said smirking just the slightest bit.

"Damp," Fuji informed him, glad for the change in topic for the moment "Damp and vast and dark. It's enormous Niou; I shouldn't be surprised if it ran under the entire island; we’ve seriously underestimated their power here...I can't even begin to fathom how to go about exploring it safely."

Niou just sighed softly; running a hand through is hair yet again. "We don't?" He said rather softly "We've managed to bring back everyone who got kidnapped safely, so maybe we just go routine as usual and ignore the labyrinth. Despite that being the most ignorant thing I've said in the entire time I've been here...and that's saying something," Niou said, looking darkly amused with himself.

"No, I want to map it as much as I can; not knowing what's down there gives them a serious advantage over us. What if they suddenly changed the rules again? Or hid someone down there?" he shrugged, "It just seems to me like there could well be some clue down there to what all this is about, don't you think?"

"I do. I just get depressed thinking about this fucking place, I prefer my delusion." Niou said rather softly, moving to prepare the tea before silently setting it on the table. "It's ignorant of me, but I don't really care."

"Saa, it's not ignorant, it's a coping mechanism," answered Fuji, letting his tea rest and cool for a moment, "I just.... I need to feel like I’m working towards getting away, that's all. I'm just different." That and getting caught up in the mystery would distract him, he thought, from everything else.

Niou gripped his cup a little tightly too. "I want to leave too. Really bad. Hiroshi wants to go to Harvard you know? More than anything. I don’t want him to be stuck here forever. I just...it depresses me." He murmured again, hanging his head a little shamefully.

Fuji nibbled on his lip, feeling bad for bringing the subject up. He'd forgotten how it affected Niou when e was made to take notice of it. "Saa...well then, Harvard is it? That sounds like a worthy ambition. What does he want to study?"

Niou nodded softly, slowly bringing his mug to his lips. "He wants to be a doctor." Niou responded with a small smile. "Apparently I'm going with him." He said laughing softly at himself, shaking his head a bit.

Fuji thought this over for a moment, "He'd make a good doctor... though perhaps not in pediatrics." he chuckled and reached over the table to squeeze Niou's hand briefly. "He'll get there, I’m sure, with you at his side." he smiled

Niou smiled at the boy, lifting his hand slightly and placing a gentle kiss on the tensai's knuckle. "Tactful and charming as ever~ How do you do it?" He asked playfully, smirking just the slightest bit.

"Natural born skill," bragged Fuji, pulling his hand free gently and picking up his tea. He gave a quick glance at the door, but no one else was around. He sipped at it and smirked, continuing "But you're not so depressed now, ne?

"I suppose I'm not. Just a few kind words and I'm back up again, huh? What a shallow boy I am." Niou said with another snicker, moving to take a sip from the mug.

Fuji laughed somewhat half-heartedly. "It's alright, look at me in comparison. Someone lands me one good kick and I’m down for weeks at a time. That's worse right?"

"Eh, I suppose its just human nature either way." Niou smiled softly, feeling entirely mellow for the time being. "God, it's been forever since we really chatted? I missed talking to you." Niou said with a broader smile, taking another sip fro his mug.

"It has been a while," agreed Fuji, tucking his hair behind his ears and drinking some of his own tea. He quirked a humorless half smile and looked down at the table again, "Actually, there's something else I wanted to talk to you about, if it's not too much trouble."

"Of course." Niou said simply. The way things had suddenly got so serious sort of scared Niou; these weren't the usual conversations he had with Fuji.

Fuji exhaled and propped his chin on his hand, elbow on the table. "It's Takashi...Do you know him? He's in love with me."

Niou inhaled just the slightest bit. "Ah, I remember him. He's in love with you, huh? And how exactly is that working out for you?" Niou asked carefully. Fuji hadn't really had the best of luck with relationships on the island so he wasn't really expecting a positive response, and that made him quite sad.

"Not so well..." said Fuji slowly. He toyed with the teacup idly, "I'm not sure how I feel about him so I told him now wasn't a good time for me to answer him, and I think he took it to mean I wasn't interested, and never could be." he ran a hand over his brow rubbing at his temple, frustrated. "Which wasn't quite what I meant at all."

"Well, I think sorting out your feelings is your top priority." Niou said simply, though he really didn’t know what he was talking about. He had only been in one relationship in his life. "Then you could talk to him again, I suppose"

"I could, but it's a bit difficult when he's avoiding me. It was awful Niou, I didn't realize until it was too late why he was being so off with me, and then I go and palm him off with some crap answer like that." he sipped his tea again and grimaced. "He's my best friend Niou; I don't want to lose that."

Niou simply looked into tea, scowling at his own reflection. Niou was rather angry at himself for not being of any help. "I don't know what to say." He murmured quietly. "I'm sorry."

"It's alright," said Fuji apologetically, "It's nice to have someone I can talk to about it at all." he gave a snort of dry amusement, "And lets face it, you've put up with a lot of my crap in the past, so don't worry about this." he drank some tea and shook his head, "Just forget I mentioned it actually."

"You've put up with much more of my crap." Niou said, snickering bitterly at himself. “I want to help...It's just, I don't know what to do in a situation like that. I'd confront him about the avoiding though. Just cause it's obviously hurting you. God, you've gotten hurt so much on this island. It's not fair." Niou went on, leaning back in his chair a bit.

"Worse, I'm doing virtually the exact same thing back to him, save that I haven't got anyone else to replace him with" said Fuji, bitterly. "But I can't force him to spend time with me when it pains him so much." He sank his head to the table, folding his arms for a cushion. "I'm no good for him at all..."

Niou ran a hand through his hair again, gripping it tightly. "Maybe...just give it some time. Fuck, I don't know. I'm just hoping that maybe you both can find someone else you like." He murmured, feeling stressed out for Fuji.

Fuji sat up again, "That's just the problem. He doesn't want anyone else and honestly, I do adore him... only...I never really thought of it in this context before, and in the context of a relationship, he's doesn't exactly typify what I’ve been looking for in a lover." He looked at Niou and laughed. "Look at you, tugging on your hair...Is this too awkward?"

"Not awkward. I'm just stressed out for you." Niou said, laughed half-heartedly. He released the grip on his hair to move to gently pick up his glass and slowly drink down the contents. "I wish I was more help. You always had the answer when I came to you with my shit."

"That’s," said Fuji smugly, "Because I'm smarter than you." He sighed, "I don't suppose there's anyway I could at least get him to stop treating me like glass is there? That would be a huge help for his cause..." He paused and looked at Niou, "Or...maybe someone could talk to him for me." He shook his head the moment he said it. "Ah no, that's too much to ask of anyone. No one needs to get stuck in the middle of all this."

"I don't mind." Niou said simply. "I honestly owe you one; I dragged you into all sorts of drama of mine." He mentioned simply, because he had brought Fuji into any problem he ever had with Yagyuu.

Fuji thought for a moment, "Well...maybe. Perhaps I’ll go and talk to him again. I think... I think I’m only not interested because he's too nice to me, warped as that sounds. I feel like I could easily trample all over him and he wouldn't call me out on it. The other's I’ve gone after would...that's the difference."

"I know what you mean." Niou said simply, nodding in agreement. "Talk to him. Though if he's honestly not your type don't force yourself into something, Kay?" Niou stated, just feeling he had to bring it up. He wasn’t' sure how far Fuji would go to please his friend.

Fuji drummed his fingers on the table, suddenly feeling fidgety. "I won't force myself," he agreed, "I don't think I could, in the end, but for goodness sakes, if only he would just snap and jump me it would make things an awful lot easier for me."

Niou couldn't help but chuckle lowly and shake his head "Wouldn't it? I think that'd solve a lot of problems in general...or, perhaps, create some. If everyone who was lured in by your charms jumped you." Niou said teasingly, smirking just the slightest bit.

"If everyone lured by my charms jumped me, I’d be feeling very smug and satiated and bored of it already. A nice guy would be a welcome change. But as it is, I’m not...." said Fuji, faintly annoyed though he wasn't sure what at.

Niou lay his head on the table moaning a bit. "Your life is hard, Fuji" Niou murmured was he lifted his head once more, resting it on his right hand.

"It’s not the only thing that hard," Fuji muttered, frowning to himself. He looked over at where Niou was moaning. "What are you moaning for?" he asked, puzzled.

"Because I'm still stressed out for you." Niou said, sighing softly. "I don't get why you're such a magnet for relationship problems. Fuck, you got dragged into my issues with Hiroshi." Niou went on, standing up to get something else to drink. "Want anything?" he asked, despite it being an out of place question.

"What are you having?" asked Fuji, catching his drift. "Saa... I can only assume this is my one flaw, to address the balance of my being brilliant in every other aspect." he gave a mock sigh, "it's a tensai's curse you know; charmed life, no sex."

"Not quite sure. I honestly haven’t drunk in a long time." Niou said scanning the fried before turning around to face Fuji. "It really is a pity, on a few levels. Not only was there such a close being to perfection, but no one gets to enjoy that lovely body of yours." Niou said mischievously, before leaning over again to peer into the fridge once more.

"Not even me," Fuji pointed out, "Which is a vast disappointment, let me tell you. It's not even as though I'm exactly after the whole hog..." he toyed with his hair, "Just... something. A bit of 'shoved-against-a-wall'-ness." he chuckled amused and then added, "You know what else a disappointment is? You haven't even noticed I cut my hair at last."

"I did~, just didn't want to bring it up whilst we were discussing other things. I must say I'm terribly disappointed that someone else got to the job before me. Offended, even!" Niou said displaying his normal dramatics since the mood had lightened just the slightest bit.

"Oh well, if I'd known you wanted to do it that badly," said Fuji, teasing. He sniggered at Niou and added, "I see you haven't lost your flair for the dramatics~"

"I don't think I ever will, dearest Fuji." Niou said with a bit of a laugh, pulling out a bottle of rum since he really couldn't come to a decision. "You know? This is really my first drink in weeks. Aah, maybe I am becoming too good and, I believe 'domesticated' was the term." He said with a smirk, sitting himself down at the table once more.

"Yes well, you're not allowed to get wasted anymore. It's not healthy for you," said Fuji, wagging his finger in faux sternness. He laughed, "Rest assured Niou, if you're too busy tying Yagyuu to the bed and tormenting him to be down here drinking, you still qualify as a bad boy."

Niou couldn't help but laugh out loud a bit. "Oh, god Fuji though. The night I came back, it was fucking fantastic. I made him come just with dirty talk, it was great." Niou went on animatedly. "Though, I suppose getting as wasted as often as I did wasn't really a good trend." Niou said with a small shrug.

"Really?" said Fuji, opening his eyes a little, "Just through dirty talk, na?" he suppressed a shiver at the thought. "I'm not sure I believe that." he picked up the bottle and poured about a fingers worth into his empty teacup before offering it to Niou. "It's drinking alone that does it. If you're going to drink, always make sure you've got someone with you to make just as big an idiot of themselves."

"Really." Niou responded, "Well, I was fingering him a little, too but basically just from talking. He fainted by his third orgasm." Niou went on rather smugly as he spoke, gladly taking some liquor from the boy. "Ah, I suppose that's right. Not to mention it keeps me out of trouble~" Niou added with a snicker.

Fuji smirked, "Saa, someone's quite the tiger," he said wryly, crossing his legs under the table. "Lucky old Yagyuu. I suppose the poor dear is still recovering somewhere." he laughed, "So, it's settled then, you're not allowed to drink without me." he sipped at the rum and wrinkled his nose before downing the shot in one.

Niou nodded pleasantly, downing his shot right after Fuji. "Aah, I think he's taking a nap in the library. Though I really just wanted to brag about my sexual prowess." Niou admitted, grinning as smugly as ever eyeing Fuji just the slightest bit.

Fuji grinned back, squashing back his own jealousy and finally feeling pleased for Niou. "Well, you're preaching to the converted really; I’m already convinced of your prowess, ne?"

"Are you~? That's good to know." He said still smirking broadly and leaning back just the slightest bit. "Saa, Fuji. You're giving me bad thoughts." Niou laughed happily, pouring some more liquor for himself.

"I'm giving them to myself too," said Fuji waving his empty mug at Niou. "But let's not go there... those are deep, dangerous Yagyuu-infested waters." he laughed, with some irony and then sat back, stretching his legs out under the table.

"Ah, they are, they are." Niou agreed, taking a sip from his mug. "Though unfortunately he can't prevent my mind from straying to where it is." Niou said, shaking his head slightly whilst chuckling pleasantly.

"Niou..." said Fuji, suddenly sighing, "Don't complicate things for me further; you know I really have quite little self control." he swished the rum about in his mug and then drank some, letting it warm him.

Niou looked to the side, averting his eyes from the boy looking rather ashamed. "I'm sorry." Niou said softly, and then kept himself silent. He really didn't know what else to say, and he figured saying nothing at all was better than saying something completely stupid in this situation.
