Governor's School

School in the summer?
that sounds like it would suck ass. before i left for gov school, i was kinda worried that it wouldnt be fun, there would be a shitload of work, and that i would be wasting a month of my life away from my friends and the beach.

i was wrong.

Governor's School was awesome. i had such a great time there. i met lots of really cool people from across the state that will be friends of mine for a long time.

i went to gov school for the humanities program, which is located at the university of richmond. The visual and performing arts gov school was also located at U of Rich. at the same time, so there were people there for dance, art,  music, and theatre there too. before i got there i had no idea what humanities actually was.  i still really have absolute no fricking clue what it is. Its not like we learned how to be human or any shit like that, its just for people that have no talents, at least thats what i think. i really realized how untalented i was/am while i was there, being around hundreds of kids who were among the best in the state at dancing, music, art, and theatre was crazy. they have so much talent. its pretty crazy to see some of the kids do some of the shit they can do. anyway, humanities pretty much is the program where you dont really do much work. the only time being in humanities mattered at the gov school was for 3 and a half hours during the day, for course 1. The rest of the day was spent mixed between the two programs, so that was cool.

my course 1 class was pretty fun, it was called beyond justice, and it dealt with the law relating to high school students. it was actually a pretty decent class, not too boring, and we got to argue and debate and stuff. and the good thing was is that unlike regular school, most of the kids arent dumb and they actually know what the hell they aare talking about when the speak. we had debates, a moot court (like a mock trial), and had a couple of field trips and stuff. we had a state trooper come in and talk to us, it was pretty cool, he had footage of him doin drug busts on the highway at like 3 in the morning. like the show cops or sumthing. it was crazy.we also went to the district court and watched real court cases and sentencings. that was interesting. there were a lot of cool people in the class. my roommmate was in the class, so was walt, and my minority brothers ian and rashad.

the only other class we had was course 2, which lasted an hour and a half. my class was a joke, it was about rituals in our daily lives, sporting events, religion, etc. a joke. one of my teachers was awesome though, he was crazy and would cuss all the time and was funny. met some cool people in the class though.

thats enough about classes, though. the rest of the time during the day was spent hanging out with people, and i met a lot of cool people at governors school.

roommate. 28 days living with someone. my biggest fear goin into gov school was that my roommate would be a nerd, someone that would follow all the rules, and actually go to sleep at lights out time, and do all the work, and not tolerate any fun. thankfully, my roommate was nothing like that. my roommate, matt, is a cool guy that has a lot of the same interests as me.  it was awesome having oen of my best friends, walt, and a cool roommate, matt, at gov school. we becaming the B Amigos , spitting out shit like bitches bang big bouncing boobs on our big balls, buttsex.

ian was another cool dude i met at gov school. he's black. we made racist/minority jokes all the time. it was so much fun. not like in a mean way. like funny jokes that arent offensive. humor. just messing around. and we had an unofficial minority club. michelle, an african american female, mentioned that she knew how to polo - that got her kicked out of the minority club. anyway, ian is one of the chillest people i know. one night, we were really bad, like we were hangin out with some people, shikha, claudia, cait, meghan, ali, and we made like an hour of straight jokes. we even took a picture where we lined up from the whitest person (meghan- cuz she glows in the dark shes that white) to ian. we had a cool name for the picture but i forgot it.

there were lots of other guys i hung out with too. rashad- my brown brotha, people kept mixing us up cuz we're both brown. jiggalo joe - the most metrosexual man ever. zach, cord, ben, ali, justin, the rest of the goodfellas, so many people i cant name them all. our hall was cool- we were the goodfellas, we were badass gangastas.

i only learned one important thing from the opening ceremony speech. 3 to 1. that was the ratio of girls to boys at governors school. very nice. there were a lot of really cool ladies at governors school. there were 3 main groups of of girls i hung out with: the ball cuspers/fab five, the sultry seven, and then an unnamed group of girls that consisted of va beach chicks and a few others.  it was funny, for a little while there was this like pseuodo-rivalry between the ball cuspers and the sultry seven. i thought they were gonna have a fight, that wudve been sweet. anyway, all thesse girls were really cool and i definitely had a lot of fun hanging out with them. i cant possibly name all the girls that i hung out, that would take up too much room, and i wud feel bad if i left someone out.

There were 4 dances. that was pretty fun. remember the 3 to 1 ratio. the dances had themes, and the 3rd one was country grammar. me, walt, and matt were complete gangstas. totally badass. check out the pictures.   we were so badass that we were in jail the first 15 minutes of the dance. thats right, because the three of us were late to the 2nd dance, they put us in time out for half an hour. thats gangsta. anyway, we lived the dream of every non-gangsta that night. During the dance, Walt, matt, and i were standing against a wall and they came and danced on us. they being the ladies. we didnt call them. they just came. living the dream.

one of my favorite parts about gov school was the meals. no not the food, that was pretty crappy. but we would always be eating with like 10 people, and the conversations would be hilarious. every meal, every day was pure entertainment. it was awesome.  its one of the things i miss most while im at home. i mean c'mon, what can brighten ur day better early in the morning then sitting at table with 10 other people talking the whole time.

we went to kings dominion. that was fun. we went bungee jumping there. it was awesome.

i also feel kinda cultured now. we watched lots of muscial performances like an opera and stuff. its actually not bad.
