OOC: continuation of a conversation with Faith. First part is here"I hear you on the simpler days," he says, shaking his head. "When it was just Dad and Sam and me -- hell, when it was even just me and Sam before this whole thing really ramped up -- but it was always ramping, that was the problem ( Read more... )

It doesn't take a genius to see that this is personal for him, and that there are key points he's leaving out. She has experience with trust issues though, so she leaves it alone for the moment. Doesn't mean she won't bring it up later if she thinks its relevant, since there's actually going to be a later now. She catalogs everything he's already said away to share with Giles since it's a hell of a lot more than they already knew, and waits for him to continue.

"When I was four my mother died -- demon killed her. She was from a family of hunters and . . . well, she was one of those people that Azazel got a special feeling about, and long story short he came and poisoned my brother, and killed her. My dad, he wasn't the type to take that lightly. So we grew up huntin, and then Sam went off to college, and then a lot of shit went down with the upside of this: Dad died, Sam was one of those kids the demon bastard tried to pit against each other, and Sam was killed and I, uh, made a deal that brought him back." He clears his throat. "Lilith comes in now. She's set herself up against Alastair, so she's against anyone who was in his camp. And while Sam isn't -- and the demon's kids were in that camp, so she was against us. The cross-roads demons work for her, making deals and gathering souls, and I -- I did it. So a year later Sam's still alive and I'm in Hell, and Lilith is walking around, getting herself ready to start breaking the Seals, maybe thinkin' that Satan himself is locked ( ... )

Damn if everything doesn't click into place right then and there. Family is involved and he's protecting his brother. He's looking at her and he's close to pleading with those eyes, almost like he's trying to will her to understand. He really doesn't have to work that hard.

She shrugs and grabs the bottle from him. "So your brother has a little demon in him. No big, so do I. Essence of demon, missing ingredient in every non slayer." She pauses to take a hit of whiskey before addressing the big issue.

"So Angels actually exist huh? Who woulda thought." She supposes it's not that unusual when considering all the nasty shit thats out there, but to know there really is a higher power, someone pulling the strings-- its a scary concept. Especially if they apparently can't get their shit together.

"Huh." Explains a lot, really, about the myth of the Slayer -- demon blood brings power, and does interesting things when mixed with human blood ( ... )

Darkness is something she's all too familiar with. Really something she doesn't like to dwell on, but she knows how hard that road is to walk. She also knows how powerful the temptation is when you aren't feeding the beast. Drawing a deep breathe she takes another shot of liquor.

"I can keep the rest of them in line, just... I know he's your brother, and I don't know him or anything. Hell, barely know you, but you sure he can handle this? I've experienced the shadier road and it's a bitch to get off. From what you've said, if he's that amped, what's to keep him from ending all of us?"

What's to keep Sam from ending all of them? It's a fair question, but not one that he's going to let her know hit a little too close to home. If Sam starts to go down, he knows what he has to do. There's only so much time once the ritual's started before they can stop it from being fulfilled. And that either means that Sam closes it, or he's dead before it's open all the way.

Either way, that responsibility's Dean's, and Dean's alone.

His eyes are almost cold, and there's no uncertainty in his voice. "Me."

He's laid everything out on the line with that one word. She's never had a family, doesn't know anything about unquestioned loyalty, but she can see it. He's got so much faith wrapped up in this brother of his, she just hopes the guy has earned it. She really doesn't want to die, the idea of hell on earth not very appealing considering the things she's done, and the things she's killed. Lots of demons with lots of promises to keep when it comes to torturing the fallen Slayer that sent them back to the pit.

Apparently not everyone believes in redemption. She has no choice. To write someone else off would be to write herself off, and the decision is made. "Count me in then. Maybe a little slayer juice will help super charge the batteries. Always did kinda think the Energizer bunny was cute."

He's so surprised that he can't help but smile. She's taken him at his word, and she's offering up her help. Impulsively he leans forward to kiss her. Realizing that this isn't the time for it -- the sex part is over, at least for now, and it's business -- he makes it short, more of a brushing of lips than anything else.

"Thank you," he says, quietly. Before she can respond he's all business again. "So what next -- you gonna go back to your people and lay it out for them or do I?"

The kiss catches her off guard, but she smiles anyway. "Yeah well, I got my reasons." She's moving now, trying to find her clothes since the time for fun is over. "Let me deal with things on my end and I'll call you." She's tugging her pants up when she looks over at him. "You do have a cell, right?"

He nods. "Can't live without it, sadly, in this line of work." He watches her wriggle into her clothes and gives him her number.

He smiles at her. "Well, Faith, sayin' it's nice to have met you seems a little lacking considering what's goin' down, but -- I'm glad I got to meet you now instead of tomorrow night."

"Yeah, then it might've been under different circumstances." She's zipping up her boots and slips his number into her pocket.

Opening the door and slipping out, she turns back to him, leaning against the door frame. "Bout this sword, you realize there are gonna be a lot of Slayers in the mix right? I need to know what that thing is capable of before any of my people get near it, especially if it has a jones for hybrids."

Oh fuck, that's an interesting twist..

"I think -- I'm not sure, mind, but I think -- that once Sam accepts it it's gonna tune to him, lock down on him. It shouldn't draw anyone to it, or give them any bright ideas, as long as he's holdin it and they don't try to touch it." He rubs the back of his head and gives her a weary half-smile. "We formulated this whole thing before we knew you ladies were comin to party, but it should still hold solid. There's not that much that's concrete about this, but a lot of lore that backs itself up. So the best we know is that once he accepts it it's his until he gives it up. At which point we destroy it."

"Just sayin'. He drops it, I'll be the one picking it up. I'd really like to not die." She throws a nod at him before straightening up and winking. "And don't forget the pants."

Dean nods. It's not what he expected her to say, but in a way it almost was -- it seems in keeping with everything about her so far. "Yeah. Dying sucks, and I'm not particularly in the mood to do that again any time soon."

He throw his patented Dean Winchester smile back at her. "How's about I make you a deal, Slayer. We get through tomorrow night, and you can ruin my last pair."

She's heading back to the bar to hail a cab but throws a smirk over her shoulder and calls back. "You got yourself a deal, handsome."
