Listen, I was the one that banned you.

Why? Because I was seeing where everything was headed and I knew that if people kept replying back and forth that it WOULD escalate. I took you out of the equation.

I was particularily upset because you said: i'd like to voice my disgustment with this community and also I feel as though this community is having less and less to do with the amount of nerdyness/geekiness/geekiness and more to do with cleavage and 6-pack abs.

I feel dirty to be associated with it.

after people had been posting pictures of themselves being hot nerds. SOME of these people who were a bit shy and unsure about posting their pics and I told them that no matter WHAT they looked like, they should be a sexy nerd and post hot pics. I wanted to make it so that people who aren't comfortable with how they look could feel free to post sexy pictures of them and we could all offer them positive encouragement. Instead, these people were met with your resounding opinion of disgustment and dirtiness. I had assured people that they were safe and with your post you made it very clear that they were not.

The whole point of me advocating people to post photos was to get people really involved and WANT to post here. Go back to before and there were maybe one post every other day. The past two weeks has had a multitude of posts per day and I had really felt that people were getting excited about being recognized as being a hot nerd.

We had already had some dissenting opinions on people posting pictures and the other mods and I had decided that as long as they were members, above the age of eighteen (if semi-naked), and under an lj-cut, that it was acceptable. I really wasn't expecting it to be met with such intolerance.

That post with sogi and I that I made? We were talking online and kidding around that we are like the mom and dad in hot nerds. So I posted the pic of me in a bikini and a bunch of pictures of him like, "Oh yeah. He's my boyfriend." It was done in jest and it was friends only and under an lj-cut. I don't understand how that would be perceived as being disgusting unless you are insinuating that I look disgusting and if you do, you should have just commented on my post rather then making a big huge deal in your self-righteous soliloquy.

LONG STORY SHORT:
Your post made me very upset because it insinuated that people taking pictures of themselves in a half-naked state is disgusting when, in fact, it's not. It's awesome because no matter what we look like, we're HOT.

I was going to unban you when I got home from work today (which I just did) and explain to you what happened and why and honestly, I still will, because you have every right to your opinion even if your choice of words were less than nice.

Like I said before, I took you out of the equation because I knew it would escalate into a battle of wits. There's a lot of us here who are quick with words and even quicker with a keyboard and it would have been completely unnecessary.

Yeah, I made a post telling people that if they hated it to leave, but I had no intention of bringing the subject up again and I even replied to abbacat's post that the situation was over and dealt with and we needed to move on.

And, honestly, I felt zero guilt about banning you.
