Re-application?

Well, I was in this community some time ago. Years ago, actually. But through journal abandonment and neglecting the internet I fear I need apply again. Plus, from what I can see this place needs a little life thrown into it. Here goes.

My name is Jessy, and i'm a geek. I'm also kind of cute.

So what makes me a geek? (I've highlighted the important bits for easy skim reading)

Firstly I am a gamer. I hope my white-mage costume speaks for itself (note: I made both costumes in that pic) but I'm more than just a Final Fantasy buff. To start, I will explain that my living room was once a gamer's paradise. That is, until I moved to a new place.

My home set up was a LAN network of dual Xbox360's and dual PS3 consoles hooked up to two 40" HDTVs that were wall mounted side-by-side. Hot damn, that allowed for 8 player games and the result was phenomenal. And when we didn't have people over, my room mate and I would versus each other on our own consoles (so we could be achievement whores) and have the luxury of not having to split the screen with someone else. Epic. Naturally, we had wireless internet access for online gameplay too, and surround sound for epic movie watching.

As for the reason I don't have this set up any more? I got so annoyed with my room mate gaming and TV watching at the SAME TIME (which for me was far too much) that I took my TV away and put it in my room instead. So now we continue to play against each other, but do so over the internet instead. It also means that if I want to watch TV without having to hear idiots yelling over Xbox LIVE I can.

I could list my favourite games, but I'd be here a while and I don't really consider myself a huge console gamer to be honest.

What really drives me is tabletop gaming. At one point I worked in a hobby store, so I've been through Magic: The Gathering, Warhammer and all sorts of board games. The ones I like are Lunch Money, Beer Money, Poo, Settlers of Catan (Although I have yet to win a single game), Wits & Wagers and it's sister game Say Anything and anything zombie related; Last Night on Earth, Pandemic, etc. As far as the zombie thing goes, my geekery for Zombies stretches into books, movies, games and all sorts of other media. I attend the local zombie walks (in costume) and the bumper sticker on my car reads: "In case of Zombie Apocalypse, follow me..". Ask me about my zombie plan. I dare you.

But continuing on the gamer streak, I'm really, really into D&D and i've been playing since 3rd edition first came out. I used to be an online admin for Wizards of the Coast and currently play two separate Pathfinder campaigns and a D20 system called Mutants and Masterminds where I get to be a superhero. (OMG did I tell you I love superheros too?) I have a million sets of dice and take pride in collecting the most awesome looking ones. I own a D100 which is totally useless, and a D20 the size of my fist. Rawr!

To add to my geekery I am a total internet nerd. I swear I have seen the end of the internet (it ended at goatse) and nothing surprises me any more. I read a plethora of online webcomics and am in the process of drafting up my own graphic novel. I used to own my own domain name and website, but took it down due to lack of moneys and useful stuff to put online. I hang out on IRC, am proficient in HTML, CSS and Java script and I constantly abuse my work email-privileges by emailing LOLCats to my coworkers. My typing speed is 120WPM and I'm also friends with a 4Chan admin in real life, but he's not as twisted as one might assume.

Aside from a gamer I am an artist. I take pictures, paint, draw, sing and dance. My PC set up is not for gaming; but is optimized for digital art and I am a slave to my Wacom tablet and Photoshop CS4, soon to be CS5. Most of my art is fantasy based or book inspired, or illustrations for my tabletop campaigns as my DM gives me extra XP if I draw him stuffs.

I love to read and I am a total book worm. Currently I am reading Perdidio St Station by China Miéville but I am absolutely GAY for Neil Gaiman and I think George R.R.Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire has to be the greatest work of literary genius ever produced.

Of course I also enjoy movies. I am an avid movie goer at the theatre and am blessed that I live only 5 minutes from an IMAX. In addition, I'm a complete music geek. Not only do I sing and play bass but i've seen over 500 concerts and own guitar picks from some of the greats such as Black Sabbath's Toni Iomi, Metallica's James Hetfield and Black Label Society's Zakk Wylde. Yes, I'm a raging metalhead. My CD collection is lacking, but i'm working on filling my terabyte external HDD. (Wink wink.)

In school I was also an English, Art and Bio Chemistry student. How's that for a wide spread? But have so far neglected to do anything useful with schooling. In the mean time I work full time providing satellite TV to the masses, so have added "pirating satellite signal" and "not caring about your problems" to my skill list. It goes right above "taking advantage of my neighbour's unsecured internet network". Teehee.

Why am I hot?

Well, aside from this:

I am a DAMN good cook, can build you a computer, ride a motorcycle and pole dance.
But not all at the same time. It's my cooking though that really seals the deal. ;)

So yes, enjoy. :)
