Fair enough, even though I disagree with Freddie II's quote (however it's true my calibration has always been a little wacky, everyone's is when their being looked at by someone who does not share their beliefs ;)). It kind of reminds me of someone who was going on and on about how "real love lasts forever!" earlier and I told them that anyone who tried to tell me that I wasn't in real, honest, 'real' love with my ex-boyfriend when we were going out simply because we broke up later on would get smacked upside the head. xD
As for 'this is my opinion', since when has saying that meant that I can't converse with someone or love conversation? peefy and I are having a perfectly fine conversation even though we have both said it. Saying something is my opinion and that I don't expect others to agree is me saying just that, its not saying that I refuse to listen to another persons opinion or that the conversation is over. All it means is that this is what I believe and I am not going to try and force my believes on you but we can still carry on a conversation just fine. :)
...I could be snarky and say it again just to finish off this conversation but I shall refrain. My brain is kind of fried from playing Ultima Online all day and then going out to eat and thinking "this doesn't look like Britannia..." hehe to much troll and orc killing on the brain I guess.
This seems to be missing the point through more hyper-subjectivism.
Whereas this "Real Love" idea is just a variation of the old "No True Scotsman" fallacy, a better analogy would be them asking if you really Loved your boyfriend despite treating them the same way you treat everyone else "Because I love everybody!". Trouble is, Love, like geekiness, has an element of priority integral to it. You can't give everyone priority, because the concept loses its meaning. At some point you have to pick a stance or a side or a subject and run with it. The alternative is to never say anything meaningful.
Falling back on "This is my opinion" isn't saying you can't converse. It's saying -nothing at all- and that's the crux of the problem. You've got foundations, so tell us some things about your passions that I can potentially disagree with, and then tell me why I should agree with them.
You must have some good reasons for doing the stuff you do. Like the anime thing, if you can show us your point of view and make people realize something they hadn't thought of, this is a way to score some points. Not explaining it just makes you come off as weird. I don't want to have to break out the Weeaboo hose yet. I'm hoping for a good reason.
Anyway, so drop the false modesty (because seriously... you're applying to a community called "the Hot Geeks". Busted.) and tell me something meaningful about the things you love. If it's awesome, I'll make this a Yes.
I figured I might have been a little harsh, so I checked out your website to see what your art and writing are about. Having found that your namesake character who is described "As close to me as my own soul" is an undying, Half Dragon/Half Elf telepathic Vampire with red/amber eyes, a dead family, tragic past, a healing factor, super senses, 'natural elven beauty so she doesn't have to wear makeup', and magic eyes that let her see into people's emotions, but are cursed so that she is unable to cry, (Oh, and she was raised by Drow) I cannot in good faith give a yes.
Fine with me. Yes she is very close to me too, so would any character be when someone has played them for like 8 years. Good faith would be asking me about her, but I don't need to justify a character who has been thoroughly RP'd out to someone who is obviously not interested in the full story. Nothing wrong with that, feel free to think whatever you want doesn't bother me. :)
I don't treat him the same way even though I love everybody, there are different ways to love things you know. And priority integral? ...maybe for you. I am perfectly capable of loving everybody in their own light, might sound totally crazy or whatever to you but that's you.
And I don't need to justify anything, I don't need to prove myself or my passions to you. Foundations? I grew up in a house where my mother liked country, my father liked metal/rock, and my sister liked rap/techno so yes I have a very, very broad range of what I like in music and the same with everything else. Those are my foundations, a giant melting pot of a family that allowed me to not be narrow minded on what is good and bad, what should be a favorite and what shouldn't be.
"Oh she can't be modesty cause she's applying here busted!" give me a fucking break. xD So I made a post that says what I enjoy and included a few pictures, I wasn't being vain or boastful. I didn't say I was so hot and so cool, I posted on a whim cause I thought it would be fun to talk with other geeks about similar interests. The whole "hot" business I could really do without but that is part of this particular group's stance so eh.
