Day 7873

Mar 02, 2006 15:46

If February had 30 days, today would be February 30th, so I am calling it a technical one month anniversary. It seems like it's been much longer.

My car is at the Ford dealership right now. They called me a bit ago and told me that the noise is coming from the transfer case. Which is like speaking Russian to me pretty much. I was like, "okay..." And they asked if I wanted them to take it apart to figure out what exactly it was, and I was like, "...sure..." So I guess that's what they are doing now. I don't think I'll have my car back tonight, but hopefully by the end of the day tomorrow. I have no idea how much this is going to cost.

I wish I had my guitar up here. Well, it's sort of mine. It belonged to my mom and it's old and out of tune and missing a string. But if I had it up here in tune with all its strings, there is a song I'd really like to learn to play. At a show in Austin in 2003, Ben Gibbard did a solo cover of "St Swithin's Day" by Billy Bragg. The lyrics really don't have much to do with my life, but I really love the guitar part. I've been listening to it quite a bit today because I enjoy it a lot.

I'm so worried about graduating. I mean, I have the summer lined up, but then I'll have to get a job. I want to stay in the area for obvious reasons, so I am looking at a ton of companies in the state, including places at Research Triangle Park. I saw a thing from Centex Homes about entry level positions for land management and stuff, which sounds cool. One of the things you do is pick land to build on and kind of figure out how to layout neighborhoods, which sounds like a puzzle. And I like puzzles. So we'll see. I'm just afraid of the job market being very limited by the time camp is over. I will probably start applying in April and May. I just hope that someone will allow me to wait until August or September to start. Keep your fingers crossed.

EDIT ( 8:31p ): The pump in the transfer case went bad and, to make a long story short, fucked up a lot of stuff. I won't get it back until at least Monday and it's going to cost $1300 or more.
