There is a good chance that my good friends, near and far, have heard me tell stories about my Grandfather "Pops". He's also met quite a few of you as well over the years. I don't know how to tell you all this but...
Pops passed away yesterday afternoon. The whole family had been with him through his recent, sudden hospitalization. He had a recurrence of his prostate cancer that spread to his bones. He had started his chemo regimen and, quite simply, his body could no longer keep up with him and fight the good fight.
I'd been quiet about this with you guys, quite simply I thought there really wasn't much to talk about. We'd, as a family, done some really good things in the past few years with the inevitability of the end in our heads I suppose.
I hope talking about this via LJ isn't tacky or anything, but there a few of you out there that I wanted to let you know. Wasn't quite ready to call you all and strike up a conversation this way either.
The family is holding up as well as can be expected. If you'd like, you can head over to his online
obituary and check things out. Feel free to sign the guestbook, I know it would mean the world to the whole family. Perhaps these should be called iBituaries?
C'mon now, if Pops knew about the internets, he'd be laughing at that one.
