The worst thing about living in London about now isn't the £99 a month for travel, nor is it the ever-rekindling disgust at being pushed and trodden over in the rediculously over filled streets...It's the suicides.
Just on the underground there were 2 yesterday and it averages out at at least one per week. People are just being driven to the edge over mushy government and neighbours and colleagues and friends who - without even thinking - apply layer after layer of nonchalance and self-obsession until its just too much.
I have a sneaking suspicion that ths so-called global financial crisis isn't even a half-truth. There's something really scary about modern society that goes beyond unfairness..an all over impression that no one is truly cared about but no one truly cares.
So why bother?
Throw yourself under a train and i'd bet 60% of the people at the station and on the train (and not just the ones in the front carriage and not just the driver) are going to go home feeling it's the only sensible option.
we were preached at non-stop over a shadow of a ghost of a knife crime 'epidemic' and not one tiny newspaper item even mentions in passing the amount of people's remains being cleaned of the tracks of the london underground.
It really fucking scares me and i bloody well hope this isnt the end of us all.
