Website update

I mentioned I was playing with the Run Like Hell website. Having tidied up the code I wanted to do something with the actual look of the site. When I joined the band it just had a title banner and a simple brick background to symbolise The Wall, the album on which the track Run like Hell can be found. The brick background was blue, because that's all they'd been able to find, so finding a replacement in white was one of the first things on my shopping list. That took all of 30 seconds with Google.

Since that was a bit plain I wanted to liven it up with some more Floydian imagery and a bit of colour. The obvious Floyd image would be the prism logo from The Dark Side Of The Moon but this presented two problems. Firstly I wanted to do something that was immediately recognisable as TDSoTM, but without breaking copyright. Secondly, that logo is all black, warmed and illuminated with a bright spray of colour, whereas the imagery of The Wall is hard white, bleak and cold. How to marry those two contrasting themes into a seamless whole?

Well, I'm not a graphic designer, so frankly I just gave the second challenge a miss. That'll be something to think about for next time, but for the present we're sticking with the brick wall. Only now it's a white brick wall, and has a colourful poster stuck on it.

But I think I did a rather good job of putting together a suitable image for TDSoTM. Take a look at the revamped site and see.
