'Tis the season to be gigging
I am currently sipping hot, sweet tea from my new extra-large mug. Tea good. More tea better.
Hadn't played a gig since the final X-sTatiC bash at the beginning of october, but I've just played two. Both Blues Bros. gigs, last night in Wales, the night before at Claridges in London. Very swish; I wanted to take a pic of the waiters and bellboys in their posh uniforms and caption it "road crew".
Both gigs went pretty well, though I did have to hold the tempos back a lot; after playing early XTC stuff the Blues Bros. feels like it's on valium. I felt somewhat rusty but I managed to get by both nights with only one major cockup - which of course had to happen in my one solo drum break on the friday.
Today I've been around town, doing some christmas shopping, and I didn't hear any Xmas music at all. None. Not so much as a note. Zilch. Zip. Nada.
