Hello my dear spam-ies...
How are you doing? Well, due to the fact that it has been some time since i have done one of these mass letter thing-ies, and work has slowed down to, well, literally a halt due to recess, i now present you with the latest installment of the goings on in DC and my head.
And if you followed that last sentence, good job, cause i lost interest about halfway through and started eating my soup instead...
So, my life has had a few interesting experiments in the last few weeks. a couple of weeks ago my dear cohort in arms, Amy, decided to sign up for bikram yoga and convinced me to go as well-at least for a week trial. So i was her yoga buddy for about a week. It was an interesting experience. I learned that i am no longer nearly as flexible as i once was, that yoga brings to the surface old injuries so that the body can recognize them and heal them (that's how the yoga guy said it...), and that i can survive in a room full of people that has the temp of about 90 + degrees for an hour and a half just stretching and sweating... i also learned that i can chug an entire nalgene bottle in about 1 minute. after a week of yoga i quit. Amy was better than me however, and signed up for a couple months of yoga. being broke and not wanting to limp on an extremely sore ankle, i didn't sign up for any packages. though i must admit, i will be going back from time to time just so that i can enjoy the mental clarity that it gave me and the nice stretched out ahhh feeling as well.
over all it was a good experience. it taught me to go outside of my comfort zone, how to stretch properly, and it also led me to my next adventure with amy... the gym...
Not any gym, Gold's Gym. oh yeah, that's right. My dear amy got a flyer in the mail that allowed her to sign up at a reduced fee for a gym membership there, and attached to said flyer was a lovey free 10 day guest pass...which i am currently using. ever since my other gym pass ended, i have been longing to run indoors again and to use free weights. well my dream has come true, at least for a few days. So yes, i have been running at the gym again, and it has once again saved my knees. i have been contemplating on actually joining however, because there are gold's gyms in seattle and the surrounding area. the problem is in the fact that they can't always transfer a membership over to another gym without going through hoop after hoop, and maybe a fee or two. seeing as though i am a poor intern at the moment, i might just pass this up as well. though when i do get the money, i am definitely joining a gym...
the coolest thing happened last week--the dear wonderful lovely exec assit. got tickets to see a pre-screening of a very awesome movie... and do you know what movie that was???
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Oh yeah! I got to see it before the rest of the country--AND i didn't have to pay and i got a free dinner there too!! over all it was a good movie, but seeing as though i am a book to movie snob, i wasn't as impressed as others and frankly, i liked the book more. but meh. so it goes. it was a good movie none the less and it rocked seeing it early and in a really cool theater in the reserved section no less!!
another fun tidbit that took place was my trip to dulles airport yesterday . the Senator decided NOT to fly back in there, but instead to Regan. so...i hopped in a car with beth--one of the press people in the office--and we headed out to the airport. i got to then drive the senator's car back while following her into the city. while it was raining. actually it was kinda fun, cause his car is pretty nice! hehe at any rate, it took a big chunk out of the day that would have otherwise been spent doing what i am doing now...trying to stay occupied during recess...
more current news...THANKSGIVING! oh yeah, that's right. and this year i will be spending it with the wyoming orphans. its good stuff--the wyoming office people who aren't going home or don't have family in the area get together and have dinner...and watch football of course because the large majority of them are huge sports fanatics so there you have it! perfect i say--i get to bring the rolls and such. i already know the majority of people who are going to be there so i think it will be good times all around. plus, this sat. i get to go see mos def at the 9:30 club! i think the vacation will be a nice one all around.
So anywho, i hope that you all have a abso fab holiday and eat plenty of turkey till you fall asleep at the table...unless you are a vegetarian...at which point...umm enjoy your respective veggies that you seem to love so much, you all know my opinion on veggies so we shall leave it at that. oh, and if i failed to leave you a random note at the bottom, i'm very sorry, you have my permission to berate me, just keep in mind that i may just delete it all from my incoming messages and avoid you at all costs...j/k ;P hehe sorry, my flippancy meter is going crazy, i'll stop now and get back to work...now that there seems to be some.
oh yeah, and before i forget, the vote of the day (recently started, and by recently i mean yesterday): You have a choice between Pillsbury bread sticks and Pillsbury crescent rolls, which do you choose? write back and tell me which and why and that will determine which i get at the store for thanksgiving dinner...yes i'm making you decide because frankly i don't care either way but there seems to be a choice that needs to be made and it would be better made by people who weren't so flippant at the moment...and yes i really like that word right now...
bisous,
jen:)
