Wanggara [noun] in the Narungga language means "head wind, bad wind", according to
Nharangga Warra: Narungga Dictionary.
LOVE IT. I specifically chose "Wanggara" - a bastardised Anglicisation of Wen Ge Hua (the proper pinyin for "Vancouver", 溫哥華) - because it sounded to my (very, very uneducated, I have to say) ears like it might pass for a word in one of the Aboriginal Australian languages. Just as I chose "Vancouver" because it was a name that presented itself to me as being very available to such hybridisation of Chinese/Australian. But I certainly never expected this.
