SHIN-WANGGARA
SYNOPSIS
Fifteen-hundred years into the future, the unexpected arrival of the mysterious Republican vessel "Gaia" from deep-space sparks new tensions and awakens decades-old hostilities on the distant planet of Shin-Wanggara*. A former penal colony left to its own devices, Shin-Wanggara is a largely-uninhabitable place just beginning to call itself a nation, a desert wilderness still bearing the scars of its brutal and bloody history.
What do the humans on Gaia want? How will a burgeoning war 60 lights years away affect the fate of Shin-Wanggara?

* "New Vancouver" by way of the Mandarin Chinese pronunciation. And if you think "Shin-Wanggara" is a funny name for a place, take a look at some names of actual places in Australia: Wagga Wagga, Woolloomooloo, Parramatta, Bong Bong, Kakadu, and Goondoowindi.
Obvious inspirations/points-of-reference include Deadwood, Battlestar Galactica, Firefly, Frank Herbert's "Dune", the history of Taiwan, and the history of Australia.
