All my friends and readers on the US East Coast, I hope you are safe and well.
Eating
Fresh bananas - oh the extravagance! QLD crops must still be in recovery, as the retail price of bananas is still about $11 per kilo. Oh, and yesterday,
calculare and I had a delicious duck, chicory and hazelnut salad and trout with fish roe for lunch at a local restaurant. Warm, sunny, almost-Spring, you can sit and eat outdoors now in comfort.
Wearing
SABA black cotton/cashmere top, black jeans, dark green ankle boots, and my DKNY collarless coat with leather trim.
Shopping
Ordered this
silk blouse in Emerald City Print from The Grand Social last week; it's just the sort of thing to liven up a black or grey pencil skirt. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like it will arrive before I leave for Shanghai this Thursday.
Writing
A sequel to my Inception story,
World Enough and Time; it's trickier than I anticipated, writing a deathfic that doesn't revolve around angst. In the meantime, have a snippet from Paddy McAloon's
"I Trawl the Megahertz", which I listened to on repeat when I wrote the original fic:
So ... I rake the sky.
I listen hard.
I trawl the megahertz.
But the net isn't fine enough,
and I miss you
- a swan sailing between two continents,
a ghost inmune to radar.
Still, my eyes are fixed upon
the place I last saw you,
your signal urgent but breaking,
before you became cotton in a blizzard,
a plane coming down behind enemy lines.
