Travel
Currently in Sydney, but will be heading back to Shanghai on September 1 or 2 - if you want to catch me, make it soon!.

Eating
Creamy potato and leek soup with sourdough. I think I prefer the soup watery instead of creamy.

Wearing
Pierre Cardin (Homme) wool and mohair sweater, blue jeans, and a pink long-sleeved Saba top.

Perfume
Estee Lauder Azuree, layered over Serge Lutens Cuir Mauresque.

Watching
The Hour, which I hear is premiering on BBC America today. It's brilliant, peoples! Funny and dramatic and spookily relevant to our times. Ben Whishaw, Romola Garai and Dominic West are three TV journalists during the 1956 Suez Crisis. Series two hasn't been commissioned yet, but hopefully that announcement will be made soon, with the 6th and finale episode of series one airing next week. Read an interview with the writer/creator, Abi Morgan, at Televisionary:
“It’s the moment where we’re waving goodbye to the empire and recognizing that the establishment is in decline and the country is being run by an ailing prime minister... When I started to look at it more broadly, it was exciting that this was not only a literal revolution going on in Egypt, but there was this incredible revolution going on culturally … There was a sense that the old order was shifting [and] the newsroom became this great melting pot to really explore the historic and social events of the time.”
Writing
A bunch of columns in various stages of development for Ars Aromatica. Latest contribution, some thoughts on Taste and Functionality. It has been so long since I have written fic, but nothing I'm watching right now is really inspiring in that way... Maybe when the current season of True Blood ends (and Eric's memory returns), there'll be some juicy drama to work with.
