Eating
Dinner at the Sky Bar on the rooftop of the Majestic Hotel Saigon, Ho Chi Minh City. I wish I were adventurous enough to go looking for local Pho places that Tony Bourdain would approve of, but the downside to travelling for work is that you have to be a bit paranoid as to where and what you eat, because ending up sick or (worse) in hospital and hence unable to work when you need to totally cancels out the purpose of the trip. And with all the E coli news on the BBC, I'm even more paranoid than usual. Of course, that didn't stop me from eating raw oysters from the buffet... Maybe I should practice what I teach a little more.
Wearing
Hanging-around-my-hotel-room clothes. ie my relaxed yoga pants and a thin grey t-shirt that I got free with a fashion magazine. This is not what I wear to meetings, obviously. But for working on my laptop and taking impromptu naps in the afternoon, it's good.
Sounds of summer
Traffic, lots and lots of motorbikes and scooters, barges, floating restaurants and the Sky Bar's stereo playing Western pop music. I wonder what the river I'm looking down at is called. The Mekong? Geography was my absolute worst subject in high school. After a very fine and humid day, the rain has just begun to fall. I caught a bit of the sudden downpour before the folding sunroof above me extended into place.
Watching
The Bourne Identity on HBO. Baby!Matt Damon! Franka Potente! I miss Marie so much.
