Saoirse Ronan (Atonement, The Lovely Bones) joins the cast of Peter Jackson's The Hobbit. Filming, however, has been delayed due to Jackson's stomach ulcer surgery. (Collider)

Orlando Bloom, Imogen Poots and Kerry Cordon will portray a literary love triangle between poet Robert Graves (Bloom), his wife, artist Nancy Nicholson (Cordon), and the American poet Laura Riding (Poots) in The Laureate. (The Playlist)

Minka Kelly, Rachael Taylor and Annie Ilonzeh are the new Charlie's Angels, which is being rebooted as a TV series by ABC. (/Film)

Two of the hottest actors of the moment, Michael Fassbender (Centurion, Fish Tank) and Noomi Rapace (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) will star in Ridley Scott's sci-fi movie Prometheus, which was originally envisioned as a prequel to Alien. Not much has been revealed about the plot, but Fassbender will apparently be playing an android. Given the symbolism behind the title, I wonder if he might also play the human on whom the android is modelled. (THR)

Dane DeHaan, who was undoubtedly the breakout star of In Treatment season 3 (much like Mia Wasikowska, in season 1), has been cast in John Hillcoat's Prohibition-era drama, The Wettest Country in the World (previously "The Promised Land"), which also stars Tom Hardy, Jessica Chastain, and Shia LaBeouf. DeHaan has also landed a role on another HBO's True Blood, and will play Timbo, a teenager that Jason befriends in Hot Shot (Collider, TrueBlood-News.com)

(ETA: Oh! And also, I know he's a bit old for the part, but wouldn't DeHaan be a great choice for Peeta in The Hunger Games?)

And speaking of Mia Wasikowska (Alice in Wonderland, The Kids are Alright), she is rumoured to have replaced Carey Mulligan in Stoker, which was written by actor Wentworth Miller, and will be directed by Chan-wook Park (Oldboy). She would play a teenage girl who must deal with a mysterious uncle after the death of her father. Vampires, I assume, will be involved. (Collider)
