Saoirse Ronan will star in the title role opposite Greg Wise and Orlando Bloom in the Emma Thompson-written period film, Effie. The film is based on the letters of Effie Gray, the wife of Victorian artist, architect, poet and political thinker John Ruskin, and later of the Pre-Raphaelite painter John Everett Millais. Gray married John Ruskin when she was 16, but the Ruskin (Wise) refused to consummate the marriage, leading to a very public annulment and her remarriage to Ruskin's protege, Millais (Bloom).
