My order from
BetterDayBooks has arrived! I put it through Abebooks on May 8th, so I'm really quite pleased with its delivery speed. (One book I ordered from a UK store, I've been waiting 2 months for now.)
I ordered:
- Michael Walzer's thesis of "complex equality", Spheres of Justice: A Defense of Pluralism and Equality.
- Beyond Positivism: Economic Methodology in the Twentieth Century, by Bruce J. Caldwell, who I discovered this semester while doing research for a couple of essays on Institutionalism, and subsequently wanted to read more of.
- D. Wade Hands' Reflection without Rules: Economic Methodology and Contemporary Science Theory, on a recommendation from B. J. Caldwell.
- Edmund Burke's Reflections on the Revolution in France and Thomas Paine's The Rights of Man, because it was probably time I got my own copy - and just in time too, because I fully intend to quote from them in my
castielfest challenge fic.
- Civil Society: Challenging Western Models, edited by Chris Hann and Elizabeth Dunn.
- Karl Polanyi's The Great Transformation.
In other news, I'm fangirling the Polanyi Brothers (
Michael and
Karl) so hard right now. I had no idea until yesterday that they were related. Also, I really need to replace my copy of N. Wiener's The Human Use of Human Beings, since Lance chewed up the one that I had.
