Jamie Bell (Billy Elliott), Judi Dench, Sally Hawkins (Happy Go Lucky) and Imogen Poots (28 Weeks Later) are in talks to join the cast of Jane Eyre, directed by Cary Fukunaga (Sin Nombre). Michael Fassbender (Inglorious Basterds) and Mia Wasikowska (Alice in Wonderland) have already signed on in the lead roles. Bell will play St. John, Dench will play housekeeper Mrs. Fairfax, and Hawkins will portray Jane's aunt, Mrs. Reed. (THR) [imdb]

Cate Blanchett is signing onto Joe Wright's Hanna. She joins Eric Bana and Saoirse Ronan in the action drama about a "14-year-old girl who uses the survival skills taught to her from her ex-U.S. military/CIA father to survive a Swedish wilderness, and battle U.S. intelligence agencies while she treks across Europe to be reunited with her dad." Blanchett will play Marisa Wiegler, a 45-year-old frosty CIA agent on the hunt for both of them.

The Playlist said about the first draft of the Hanna script, which has been revised by David Farr:
"Hanna" is very 'La Femme Nikita' with a teenager, but in no way is it dumbing things down for a female teen audience. The script is very 'Bourne' and very matter of fact. We're hoping for another draft to give it a bit more heart (and perhaps coherent story) but we may have already gotten that.
They're also thrilled about the new version of the script:
Yes, as mentioned often, it's very "La Femme Nikita" and very 'Bourne' franchise. It does not re-invent the wheel, but the script is just so damn entertaining, we don't really care.

Michael Winterbottom (The Killer Inside Me, A Mighty Heart) has cast Matthew Macfadyen (Frost/Nixon) and Colin Firth (A Single Man) in his Palestine-set dramatic thriller, The Promised Land, also starring Jim Sturgess. Film is set in the lead up to the 1948 partition of Palestine and the creation of the modern state of Israel. Sturgess and Macfadyen will play two British officers who are trying to track down a Jewish militant group responsible for terror attacks against Arabs and the occupying British. Firth will play the leader of an extreme right-wing Jewish group; a charismatic poet named Avraham Stern. (The Playlist)
